I woke up to a soft ocean breeze and the wonderful sound of waves crashing on the beach. I stretched out on the king sized bed before sitting up and looking out at the ocean.
This room was my favorite out of all the others in the house. It was mainly accordion doors separated by beautiful painted pillars. Opening up this bedroom to mother nature.
I smiled and slipped out of bed and into my sandals. I glanced around the room, wondering where my boyfriend, John, could be. He normally slept in bed with me.
"John? Are you ready for breakfast?" I called out as I started walking into the kitchen. I frowned at the lack of response and started to pull out smoothie mixes. "John?" I called out again as I started to feel uncomfortable with my surroundings.
I pulled my blonde hair up into a ponytail as I started to look around the rest of the house for him. "John? Are you in here?" As I knocked on the door to his study gently, I found a small note stuck in the doorway.
With shaking hands I pulled the note from its place and opened it up.
Dear Allison,
I am wanting you to prove yourself to me, I heard you telling your toy "I will always find you."
Prove to me that you will always find him, and that you're done with me for good.
Once you find your toy, I will leave you be forever.
Just as long as you don't send me back to prison. If you do reach out to the police remember, I have your dearest toy.
Love always,
Sinclair xoxoMy blood started to boil as I read the letter. Sinclair was one of the most frustrating people I have ever come across, he's the reason why I quit working for the FBI.
Edward Sinclair was a twisted man with what he called a normal sense of humor. His file came across my desk when I worked for the FBI. He seemed like a normal person, had an average job and lived in a small home outside of town. Though he had a nasty taste for taking people.
The first abduction was wrote off as him trying to help the family. What had actually happened was he overheard the mother telling the son that she'd never let him go, in his mind he thought of this as being the perfect test and took the kid when he went to use the bathroom. He told the boy that they were just going to go on a few rides and have fun. When the security found the kid Sinclair said the kid was on the ride alone and he was just keeping him safe until the parents arrived. The kid happily agreed and went home with his mom, Sinclair was sent on his way after being told what to do if it happens again.
Then the second abduction happened with about the same beginning. A mom with cancer told her daughter that she loved her and wouldn't leave her so soon. When the young teen left the hospital room to let her mother sleep Edward took the her. He told her that they could play games and test to see if her mom was telling the truth, "some moms lie". She happily agreed, after a few hours the mom was wanting to give her a gift, but they couldn't find her. It took security and police several hours to find the girl and in that time the mother had passed away. Edward had twisted the girls mind and way of thinking in that time.
Fortunately for both cases he didn't harm either children, that was just not the kind of man he was. He would play with them, be kind, and the only thing that was messed up was how he spoke to the kids.
That's when Sinclair's file landed on my desk, they couldn't get anything to stick on him in court and it was now my job to do some digging. Unfortunately he found out what was happening through a leak in the building.
He started targeting me next, taking things of mine and leaving me letters. Convinced I was in love with him he tried to kidnap me, thinking of it as a rescue from my work. I managed to get free and this time it stuck in court, and now he's back out. Testing his waters.
