Once, when a guy told Hazel she was stupid, Nico nearly snapped his neck. It took six policemen, a visit from Hades himself, and a blessing from Eirene (Goddess of Peace) to finally get Nico off the guy. The mortal was immediately taken to the infirmary, where he had three broken ribs, two black eyes, a dislocated shoulder, and a sprained ankle. After that, Hazel avoided talking to boys other than Frank when Nico was around.
