Tweet tweet, the birds sang as the sun rose. Rays of light entered the windows like laser beams. Helen was already in the kitchen cooking breakfast. She was making homemade vegan waffles and an egg salad. Tss she opened the pan and found ( not to anyone's surprise) a beautiful cooked waffle. She set it with the others under a warming light so that it would keep its luscious flavor all morning until everyone started to eat.
Outside the witch hunters made preparations for their invasion. Michael looked at the window and saw that the stairs were in front of it.
"We could position a rifle to get anyone who comes down." He said.
And they did exactly that. They readied themselves and kept beady eyes in on the stairs for movement. They had prepared extra guns and knifes on them in body belts and pockets. They thought after they shot someone through the window they would blow their cover and they would immediately have to seize the structure.
"I just want to tell you guys that if anything happens to me, I would like to be buried under a birch tree." Michael said solemnly.
"Don't say such foolishness. Do not let the devil infiltrate your mind with doubt. God is leading us today, he is positioning our guns and aiming as we hold the gun. Stay calm." Friedrich said.
"Just don't let your guard down." Ernst said not keeping his eyes off the window.
Then there was movement, Fantasia came scurrying down the stairs. Ernst put his hand on the trigger- "Wait!" Michael said. "Thats Fantasia Valen, a child. Ernst relaxed his hand only to tighten it again as someine else came down thw stairs. "Thats Samuel Crochet, a child!" Michael says.
"there better not be anymore children." Ernst said annoyed.
"There isn't, whoever comes down next... take em down.""Good morning helen." Fantasia said. Helen turned and saw both Samuel and Fantasia and let out a smile. "Good morning children, you can start setting up the table."
Samuel and Fantasia made their way to the cupboards.
Creek! Someone upstairs opened their door and their footsteps could be heard walking towards the staircase.
Helen continued cooking and humming a light tune. Samuel was trying to reach another plate. But Fantasia was dead in her tracks. She felt a feeling. Something is coming, somethings going to happen!
She held the plate in hand, her grasp becoming tighter like a serpent, but only she wasn't the predator. She felt like the prey.
Whoever came out of their room made their first step into the staircase. To Fantasia it's all she could hear in slow motion. Everything else blurred out.
Then the second step, and then the third.
Ignorance is bliss when u don't know you're about to die. They looked down the staircase with not a care in the world. Only looking down knowing that's where they were headed. But she wouldn't expect how she'd get there.
4th step, Fantasia's heart began beating fast.
5th step, Ernst clenched the rifle. He took notice of slippers now being visible in their view of vision. The first to go he thought. But who would it be?
6th step, 7th step and 8th step.
Ernst couldn't hold back anymore! The adrenaline rushes through his veins and filtered his eyes with a target he needed to hit.
So he pulled the trigger.
Crack!shatter! The window was demolished by the bullet and slid through the air towards their victim.Fantasia dropped the plate when Ernst pulled the trigger. What's going on!?
The person walking down the stairs was none other than Jeanne Crochet the 18 year old talented artists with hands that could paint things unimaginable to human minds.
The bullet hit her thigh and she yelped in shock and pain and tumbled down the stairs spraining her ankle and wrist.
Helen turned towards her direction.
"Help!" Jeanne screamed.
"Jeanne!" Helen left what she was doing and ran to where Jeanne was. She propped herself up against the wall and breathed heavily. Her thigh was bleeding massively. Jeanne looked up at Helen as if awaiting an answer as to why this happened."You shot early! Don't anticipate it!" Friedrich scolded.
"We got to go now! Go! Go! Go!" Michael Said and he opened he door to the Jeep and they piled out and ran towards the house. Thump thump thump, their heavy boots hit the concrete almost creating a bearable rhythm.Helen peaked outside the window and saw the boys getting out of the car.
"Witch hunters." She whispered.
"What?" Jeanne said inbetween breaths.
Helen turned back as Jeanne with fear in her eyes, "uh, we have to go now! Let me help you u-"
"no." Jeanne said.
Helen seemed taken aback and her eyes seemed to fade in and out of reality.
Samuel came out of the kitchen looking scared and confused, "Helen?"
"Go hide. I'll stay here and be fine."
Helen looked back at Samuel and again at Jeanne.
"Go. The kids will get hurt." Jeanne said.
Thump! Bang!
They were at the door.
"Go!" Jeanne commanded.
Helen backed up and turned to the security system next to the door. She pressed it hard with her hand and a small loud siren sounded all over the house.
She turned and Samuel was there, he staring at his sister. "What happened to Jeanne?" He said, and a tear fell down his face.
Jeanne let out a faint smile. And mouthed: I love youHelen grabber Samuels hand and started to run back into the kitchen where Fantasia was still standing paralyzed. She grabbed her.
Bang! Fling!
The door swung open and the sound of that made Helens heart drop.
Ernst, Michael and Friedrich turned to Jeanne.
"Witch." Ernst said.
Jeanne looked up at him.
"Hunter." She said faintly.
He lifted up his shotgun and pointed it to her.
"This would've made a great painting." Jeanne said. She closed her eyes.
And then he shot her.
