I sighed and breathed heavily as I looked around the young couple's new home. Demon bodies were scattered everywhere, some of them with arrow's sticking out of their chests. The newly wedded couple that had only recently bought the house, and they hadn't been expecting a group of demons to come and terrorize them. I shook my head and looked over to the new couple.

"It's okay. You can come out now."

The couple came out hesitantly. Couldn't say I blamed them, especially considering I had just bloodied their backyard. The new wife looked from me to the bodies lying around.

"Thank you." she whispered fearfully.

I smiled at her. "Don't mention it. I'm just doing my job."

She smiled shyly at me. She was really pretty. She had long blonde hair with blue eyes and lightly tanned skin...she looked like a flower child. She had high cheekbones and a proud nose that was strong. It was clear that she was a good girl, she probably would end up in Heaven with the rest of the "saints". I really dis-liked using that word, it made me feel like I was a religious person. Overly, I wasn't, but I showed respect to those that were.

Her husband was the same way. He had brown hair, pale-green eyes, bronzed skin, not so high of cheekbones, and a strong build. His nose looked as though it's faced a few trips to the doctor's office, probably from when he was younger.

Before I came here to fight the demons, when I got their file, I saw that the girl had been an only child and her husband had three older brothers. So, I was definitely expecting a few broken noses and a slight attitude problem. But, he didn't give me attitude, probably just because I saved his girlfriend's life.

"Yeah, thanks." He agreed, walking over with his wife.

"Like I said, don't mention it. It's all in my job description."

"You're a Guardian Angel?" The girl asked.

I nodded. I was proud of it too. I was the only Guardian Angel that had never, once, gotten his or her wings damaged, or overly gotten attached to Earth again. My boss, whoever you want to think of....God, Jesus, whoever or whatever, was also impressed and proud.

Her husband shrugged. "Either way, thank you."

I was just about to say don't mention it again, when I heard a whistle, long and low, ending with a very high note. That was my signal to get back to Heaven. I sighed again and looked up to the sky.

"You two be careful now, okay?" I stated, spreading my wings and starting to flap them gently as I rose off the ground.

"We will be!" The girl shouted after me.

"Thank you once again!" Her husband shouted after me.

I nodded and flew off back to Heaven, yawning and stretching. I loved my job at times. But, sometimes it was a pain. Like whenever the person I had just helped wouldn't, or couldn't, stop thanking me. Those were the times when I hated my job.

I got back to Heaven and landed beside my best friend since I became an angel, Joey Wolvesbane. Everyone knew that Wolvesbane wasn't his last name, but we all respected him. He had a dark past, a past that he hadn't of intended on having. "Joey" wasn't an uncommon first name, and he liked it like that. It made it easier for him to hide from his past, as he always put it. But his original last name was easy to trace, and he didn't want anyone to find him.....not anyone from his past, at least.

"Hey Joey, what's up?" I asked him as we walked among the grass plans that stretched for miles.

Joey yawned and stretched, his wings spreading and shuddering. "Same old same old. I got three new cases in one hour."
