During the night, Tyler slept soundly on the couch while I sat up and studied the files. I had heard the three statments, now it was time for me to do more of my homework. It was difficult to conqure as to who was right, Tyler and Justin, or Gerry. Both sides had their contradictions to thier own stories and both had their valid points against the other. Bloody hell it was impossible to think!
While the file followed up on Gerry's story about Justin, but it also hinted that Tyler had been right. Gerry had been seeing more and more of that Terra character, and that he had put a massive amount of life insurance on my mother before she died. Nobody questioned it though, probably becuase it had just looked like an accident, and Tyler had already been labled as a bad cookie by the police and Gerry.
I sighed, leaned back in my chair, closed my eyes, and breathed out deeply and hard. This was getting so bloody confussing!
"Welcome home, Skylar." I heard someone say.
I whipped around and saw my mother, stnading in the doorway, a small smile on her lips, her face as pale as Tyler's mom's had been.
"Sweet black baby Jesus, momma!" I stated, grabbing at my heart. "You scared the living hell outta me!"
Momma laughed. "What your tounge, little lady! But I am sorry that I startled you."
I sighed and looked my mom over. I could tell that she was wearing her favouite jeans, as well as her favourite red and black plaid shirt, and her hair had been braided. She looked like a real, home-grown country girl, like my mom really was. "Is it true? Did Gerry really kill you?"
Momma sighed. "Yeah, baby. He really did. Tyler's not lyin' about that."
"Nine Hells!" I cursed, getting up and slamming the folder shut on the kitchen table, probably stirring Tyler a bit.
"Calm down, baby. I'm dead, and their ain't much you can do about that."
"Did you come here to watch over Justin?"
"I was already down here, love." My momma stated. "I unfortunatly have a nasty bad habit of not being able to."
"He found Tyler because of you." I stated, giving her that credit.
"I knew that Tyler was a good kid ever since him and his family moved in next door."
I laughed. "Yeah, I remember you would often say that on my visits."
Momma suddenly got serious. "Why the hell are you even doubting them, Skylar?"
"Becuase mom. I have to. I can't fully trust stuff that kids that are in Lucifer's grasp say."
"Your brother srue as hell aint in the Devil's grip, and don't you ever forget that!"
"Then are you sayin' Tyler is?"
"Don't be a smart ass!" Momma snapped.
"Skylar? Who you talkin to?" Justin asked from behind me.
"Mom." I stated simply, shrugging. To my momma, I turned and sighed. "Look mom, I can't trust a lot of people right now, I'm in an odd position!"
"Uh, mom's dead?" Justin stated, stnading beside me.
"Justin. Open up your eyes my son. Your sister gave you the gift to see those from the Otherworld, so bloody use it!"
I gave my brother a raised eyebrow-no-smile sort of expression that read; Do you really want to piss momma off more and sighed. "Use your Sight, darn it!"
Justin sighed, closed his eyes tightly - the way I also told him to do if he ever wanted to communicate with those from the Otherworld - then breathed in deeply and looked up to where my head was tilting. Sure enough, his eyes widdened and grew misty.
