I was stunned. Like, leterally stunned. I stared at Tyler like he just spoke Chinese. "W-what?"
Tyler nodded. "He made it look so goddamn perfect...he pulled the perfect fucking murder. Skylar, please...I don't want it where he kills someone else close to Justin. He lost you once...he's scared to lose you again, and personally, I don't blame him. Look, I'll wait awake down here in case you do decide to come back here. If not, well, here's the number for the house. Just call me in the morning."
Tyler handed me a little slip of paper with his numbered scribbled on it in red pen. I took the paper, held in my hands for a second, then put in my zipper pocket, and nodded.
"I'll try and come back. If not, then expect a call the moment the sun rises."
Tyler nodded, the shadow of the Devil loaming over him. "Okay..."
I sighed, cursed Lucifer quietly in my mind, then turned and jogged back to Gerry's and headed inside. Gerry was sitting on the couch, a woman sitting beside him. Although, it looked more like she was curling up beside him.
"Gerry?" I asked, leaning against the counter.
I startled the woman and she bolted upright, somewhat mad to see me. Gerry looked over at me, also surprised. "What's up, Sky?"
"Just wanted to let you know that I found Tyler and Justin. Justin is spending the night at a friend's place, not Tyler, and I am heading back up to spend the night. I'll come back in the morning and work on getting Justin and Tyler back on track."
"Oh...a...alright." Gerry stated, his arm still somewhat around the woman, who I figured was Terra. Neither of us said anything, and I turned my back quickly, cursing the Devil once more, and headed back towards Tyler's house, making sure that Gerry and Terra didn't follow me.
Once I got back, I knocked softly on the door. An errie rumbling sound came from behind me and I turned around and stood face-to-fcae with Lucifer.
"Hullo, Skylar." he sneared at me.
"Lucifer." I stated coldly.
"Enjoying the way your brother is?" Lucifer laughed.
I gave him a cool, calm, collected look witha simple shrug. "No offence, but it could have bene a lot worse. It could have been the way Tyler is."
Lucifer laughed. "Yes...very good parlor trick, no?"
I shrugged. "I've handled worse than them. I've handled your Hell-Angels, demonic Hell-hounds, Demon's...anything I'm missing?"
Lucifer glared at me. "If it wasn't for what God did to me..."
"If it wasn't for people like you there would BE no Heaven." I stated curtly.
Lucifer glared at me, just as I heard the front door unlock. "Just watch your back, my pet."
"I ain't your pet." I hissed into the wind as Lucifer dissappeared.
"Skylar?" I heard Tyler's voice ask.
I turned around and saw him, T-shirt off and his hair damp. He must have jumped into a shower before I arrived, which would explain why I had managed to have a little "chat" with the Devil.
"Who else?" I asked.
Tyler smirked and rolled his eyes. "You are deffinetly Justin's sister."
"Is that how he lets you know it's him?" I asked as Tyler stepped aside to let me in.
"Pretty much." he stated, closing the door softly behind him and locking it. "But, it is nice to see that you decided to come and stay here the night."
I shrugged, feeling the file of Justin and Tyler in my large bag that I usually carried with me. "Well, what you said kind of had me concerned regarding my saftey and Justin's safety. My job as a Gaurdian Angel is to preotect people, weither that's from Lucifer's clutches, or a father that inteandes to kill them...it is my job to protect them."
"No matter what?" Tyler asked.
"No matter what."
Tyler walked over to me, placed a hand on my shoulder, and turned me around to look at him, his eyes staring into mine. "Five bucks says you'll never guess why the wolf howls at the moon each month."
I simply smiled. "It is becuase the wolf is in love with the moon, and each month the wolf cries for a love that it shall never touch."
Tyler smirked. "Not bad."
"Why would you place a bet like that?" I asked catiously.
"Because. Some people, like myself, have love for a person that we can never have and every now and then, we cry for that love."
I nodded and stayed silent. Was he saying that he liked me? I doubted it. He was probably refurring to his mom, after all. A pressance fell over me, and I looked over Tyler's shoulder and smiled kindly. A woman with Tyler's eyes and hair was sitting on the couch, just behind Tyler, watching us. I recognized her from the picture that Tyler had showed me. Tyler looked at me, then followed my eyes. Not seeing his mom the way I did, he turned back to me.
"What do you see?" he asked.
"I can see your mom's spirit." I spoke softly, so as not to startle the woman. "She never went up to Heaven because she wanted to stay here on Earth to help keep you and your little brothers in line. She never slipped into Hell."
Tyler looked back to me, surprise filling his eyes. "Is that what happened with your guys' mom?"
I shrugged. "I'm not too sure. I didn't see her at the house. All I know is that your mom loves you and your brothers, and that love is powerful enough to restrain the pull of either force, weither it's my Bosses hand trying to bring her up there or if it's Lucifer's hand trying to bring her into Hell, she is not willing to leave you guys."
Tyler nodded. "Would you ever leave Justin behind? Without saying goodbye?"
"It's never goodbye." I said.
"It's only ever see you later..." I heard his mom whisper to him. Tyler seemed to have heard it, and he spun around, looking for her. The sight broke my heart and I touched his hand gently. He looked from our hands to me.
"I'm so sorry Tyler, but's she's gone."
Tyler sighed, pulled me into his arms and hugged me. I hugged him back, not denying how amazing his arms felt around me, or how good it felt to hug another human being and be hugged back. I felt his shoulders heave and I traced his back gently. I felt the salty liquid of a tear land on my shoulders, and I pulled myself out of the hug long enough for me to dry his eyes and cheeks.
"I'm sorry...I probably look stupidly weak right now..." Tyler muttered, shaking his head.
"No..." I spoke softly. "You are not weak for crying, for showing your emotions. You're weak if you do not show them, nor acknowladge them."
Tyler sighed and looked back once more to the spot that his mother sat, and whispered into the air, "I'm sorry I failed you mom."
"You didn't fail me...Tyler..." she said.
"You worked hard to keep your brothers away from Child and Family Services, and to help save Justin. It's not your fault that evil seems to love targeting people like you and Justin." I finished for her.
Tyler looked at me. "Did you know that my mom would say that?"
I smirked and nodded." "Yup, I did. Becuase it's the truth."
Tyler sighed and looked up at me. "You know, I can see why Justin idolizes you and why Lucifer is terrified of you. You're so honest with everyone about everything."
"Because everyone deservies it, even the Devil, as crazy as that sounds."
