。・:*˚:✧ A LITTLE RESEARCH
: ̗̀➛ I have to admit this but when I first saw the picture it creeps me out for some reason. I don't know anything about arts especially this artwork so I decided to do some research about the artist. After thirty minutes of searching, I stumbled upon this blog called, Psychic Chasms: The Art of Iya Consorio. And when I looked at some of the artworks, it looked like the dolls in the Evening Dress. It was probably the concept she chose for her eighth solo exhibition. It was said that it was a collection of paintings that mostly portrayed a child-woman with an octopus body called Eiko.
The explanation was, "Psychic Chasms brings us to the brink of Eiko's world. She is a woman-child from without; a child from within, a woman who has lived so much. And from without, she dreams to be loved from within, she wants to love—the child bride awaits." After knowing what the story is, I tried to examine the artwork again.
THE THOUGHTS ✧:˚*:・。
: ̗̀➛ So, since the girls was born by featuring women-child. They are a woman who has the qualities of a child who had never dated, never been in love, never had any real friends. There will be a lot of responsibilities as they grow up. The tentacles that can be the obligations and such about the women-child appearance, or the fact that they can't help themselves by their own two hands.
Now, relating the eyes in the 'Alamat ng Pinya', in that story, we all know that Pinang kept on asking her mom where did she put this or that. Not using her eyes. So why did I relate the story to this artwork? Because the girls have a lot of eyes. They can see the people around them but still doesn't appreciate them. They have a lot of eyes, but, just like Pinang, they don't use their eyes to look at people deeply.
They want to be love and to love. But there're still a part of them that acts like a child. So they wait until someone who can fully accept them as a child-woman comes.
❁ཻུ۪۪♡ HER NOTE
