Chapter 1: Burning flames

Amanda's POV

It's eight o'clock and still no sign of him, I call the waiter up and he comes to me within seconds "Can I have the check please" I tell him and he smiles at me "Of course I'll be right back in one minute" he says and I take the phone out of my purse and I notice I have a text message from Gilbert

"Honey how is everything going" the message reads, I smile at the phone in my hand "He didn't showed up, I'm going home want to meet me there in twenty?" I text back I set the phone on the table when I feel a hand on my shoulders and I jump a little startle "Amanda" he says almost whispering my name, I turn around and look up and there he is standing up in all his beauty, "William" I say and he gives me a little smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes, he looks handsome in his black suit and he smells wonderful like always, my heart began to pound inside my chest the palms of my hands were sweaty "Thanks for coming Mandy and I'm sorry for being late I ran into a little trouble at the office and it required my immediate attention, but how are you I mean you look beautiful" he says and I blush I open my mouth to reply to his comment but my phone beeps it's a message from Gilbert "Sure honey I'll be there in a few" it says and for some reason his messages always makes me smile I can't help it, William is just looking at me and I decide to speak "William can you excuse me for a minute I need to make a quick phone call" I say and he shakes his head "Not at all be my guest" he says and I stand from the table and walk towards the restrooms, I take my phone and dial my boyfriends number, the phone rings twice and he finally answers "Hey baby" I say and he laughs "Hey babe I'm on the way to your house" he says "Honey you will hate me for this but I'm not coming home after all, I'm sorry but he just showed up right now after I sent you that message" I say and he let's out a deep sigh "Guess I have to go back home now well call me as soon as you are done with him I don't like this Amanda you shouldn't even be there but I respect your decision, I love you beautiful" he says and my hear melts "I love you too handsome I'll call you later be safe okay" he chuckles and says "I will bye babe" he says and we finally hang up, I return to take my seat at the table where William is waiting for me "I'm sorry William I had to make that call" I say and he smiles "Don't worry I understand" he says and I take a sip of my water "Well I must tell you that I was quite surprised when I got your phone call" I say and he looks away "William is everything okay?" I ask noticing he seems a little distress "I'm fine Amanda thank you" he replies and I get a little upset "I don't want to be rude but can you please just tell me why you wanted me too meet you here" I say and he looks at me and I can see the sadness in his eyes "Amanda I wanted to apologize for acting like a complete jerk two years ago, I was a fool for leaving you, this past two years have made realize that there is no one else but you, I love you Mandy I never stopped loving you" I look away because I don't know what to say, I look at him and there is so much pain in his eyes, those beautiful brown eyes the ones that used to make me melt every time he looked at me and I knew that I had to tell him the truth even though at the end it will break my heart in pieces "William I don't know what to tell you, I forgave you a long time ago, we were only eighteen and we didn't know any better you had your priorities and they didn't include me and I finally understood that I wasn't part of your plans don't you remember what happened at your high school graduation ceremony?" I ask him and his expression changes

Flashback

One Day before Lainey's Graduation

"Lainey may I ask when were you planing to tell me William had come back and that you and him are attending the same school" I asked my friend and she shook her head "I'm sorry Amanda he made me promise not to tell you, he didn't want you to know he had came back" she said like it was no big deal "But you are my best friend there shouldn't be secrets between us, specially like this one" she took a step closer to me and took my hand in hers "Listen Amanda the reason why I kept it a secret was because I didn't want to cause you pain, he has a girlfriend her name is Victoria they are getting engaged two weeks after graduation
