Chapter 3

Denise

"PETA, I want you to know that I'm very sorry for the rupture of our beautiful friendship and also about everything I did wrong to you."

"Denise, you made mistakes, and I think that's normal .The abnormal is to remain committing the same errors." Peta continued declaring. "So, I believe you do not owe me any pardon because of it."

"PETA, you're unbelievable!" I hugged her tightly. Both of us were sitting on the sofa in her living room. "I think your benevolence is one of the things I admire the most in you." I stopped hugging her and watched her from the waist up. A vast admiration was present in my eyes. "And I would love to own the title of being your best friend again."

"Denise. Are you serious?"

She questioned with the blue eyes gleaming with happiness at the renascence of our friendship.

"I've never spoken so serious in my life, my friend. Not after we break our friendship because of that jerk!" I smiled at her, holding her pale hands. "I've really missed you all this time we've been away from each other." I continued confessing her. " Countless times I have held myself back at the University and not to run after you and ask you for advice or a hug that only you can give me whenever I need a ..."

She hugged me harder. Both of us spent a long time exploring this embrace that should not end, but only break by its own desire.

"And Isac?"

Her voice asked me right after. Peta looked into my dark eyes. I was trying to find an honest answer in the hidden corner of my soul that was still bleeding from a scoundrel man who was not worthy of me.

"Isac is past in my life. I have the impression that I put a very hot iron in his image and then I pressed it until it disappeared from my path, which is now free to meet other cute boys." made a short pause in my voice. "Maybe men at my age. Because I am traumatized by older men and with many experiences."

Doubtful, Peta ended up smiling at me. She wanted to believe in my answer. She was my friend and that should be the more sensate to be done.

"Really?"

"Really. Why?" I got up from the couch and stood in the middle of the room. "Do you really doubt me?"

Peta's lips twitched at that moment.

"I really hope you've massacred the image of Isac with your feet and thrown it away from your life, Denise." She looked away. "That man does not deserve your love ..."

I interrupted her as soon as the conversation started to irritate me with intensity.

"PETA, I came here to re-connect our friendship and this includes Isac out of my life until my last sigh here on Earth." I stood looking at her still sitting on the couch and now her hands were holding the wine-colored cushion. "After all, I realized that he only destroyed my life and everything that was around me."

I closed my eyes in deep mourning and when I opened them back, Peta was standing before me. She offered me her arms again. Her embrace was one of the most important things in my life. And more than ever, at that moment I contemplated it even more.

Then I was sure that Peta and I had been born with a beautiful purpose of one being friends with each other until our death.

With our eyes closed at all, we remained involved by a loyal, amazing embrace.

"Denise, do not say anything, because I just want your hug of crazy friend!"

Saying jokingly, she smiled and cried at the same time at my shoulder. Totally covered in happiness, my tears came down as well. My eyes were blurred with black pencil. I felt like I was looking like a witch. But I did not care about that. I really didn't care about my appearance.

"PETA, I love you."

Finally I confessed her, wiping away my tears with my own fingers.

"I love you too, you little nut!"

She touched her little finger on mine and we did a ritual like we always did whenever our friendship was in deep danger.

"Loyal friends, until one of us are asleep in an eccentric coffin."

"Peta!" I whispered, touching my finger to hers. "Could you be less traumatic? I do not want you to ruin this beautiful moment between the two of us, with words of death."
