this is really sad im sorry, its because im sad.
___
jay stared at the pictures hanging on his office wall, of him and mason.
him and his boyfriend.
tears fell down his flushed face, of anger and sadness.
he swatted the pictures off the wall, and stared at them as they shattered at his feet.
oh, god. what did he just do.
he gripped at his hair and pulled as hard as he possibly could, tears streaming down his face faster than ever before.
the broken boy slid down the wall and put his head in his knees.
he quietly whispered to himself,
"i thought he loved me."
picking up a now broken picture, of the two in a local park by their apartment, looking happy as ever, anger coursed through his veins.
throwing the picture, he sobbed into his knees again, screaming out-
"I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME."
memories of their past dates flowed through his mind, causing more hurt.
they were so happy.
were.
one memory that came up hurt the most.
the night they met.
it seemed perfect. like a scene out of a movie. like the two were meant to be.
they met at a school dance, both boys sitting on the bleachers alone as another dreaded slow song played.
mason decided to take initiative and went to sit next to the teen.
he smiled at jay, both their cheeks flushed pink just at the sight of each other.
they didn't move from that one spot all night, they sat there together.
cracking jokes, flirting, you name it.
once the students began to clear out the school gymnasium as the dance came to an end, sadness took over the two boys, as they both knew they'd have to leave each other.
so, they exchanged numbers.
they went from texting all the time during class, to skipping class to be with each other.
from calling all night, to sneak to one another's house to stay over.
they fell in love, at first sight.
three years ago.
it was perfect.
these memories felt like knives forced through jay's heart.
he was the one.
the boy choked out his thoughts in a whisper.
"how could he.."
it was just a stupid fight.
just a stupid fight that went too far this time.
why did it have to lead to this?
jay's phone was blowing up with texts from all they misfits boys,
but he didn't want it.
he didn't want their sympathy, he didn't want to talk to them,
he didn't want anyone.
all he wanted was mason.
he continued to sit in the same spot all night, staring at the door.
hoping he would come back.
all he wanted was to see his face, just one more time.
he didn't want to go to bed, without mason by his side.
he didn't want to do anything without mason by his side.
jay loved mason. so fucking much.
he didn't want anybody else.
he fell asleep eventually, still on the floor.
until,
until he heard slight movements, and a soft whisper.
"jay..?"
his entire body jolted and his eyes shot to the door.
oh, god.
oh, thank god.
"mason?"
