Yusei sat on the bench in front of his house with his mother, Rurika Fudo. His legs swung while the wind blew his hair. The young boy fidgeted with his fingers.

"Stop doing that, Yusei." said Rurika. Yusei looked at her with worry in his eyes. It had been two years since Hakaze Fudo, Yusei's father, had died. His mother was very sad and so was Yusei, but he was not on board with having a new father.

"What if this new father doesn't like me?" asked Yusei.

"Nonsense. You are a very good boy and a smart one too." replied Rurika. Yusei held onto his mother's dress as a carriage pulled up. The footman bowed before the two and opened the carriage door. Out stepped a man with brown hair in a ponytail and three boys. The first one had auburn hair and fern green eyes. The second one had silver hair and blue eyes. The last one had brown hair and brown eyes.

"Yusei, this is Rex Godwin. He will be your new father." informs Rurika. Yusei looks at Rex with suspicion and cautiousness. "Rex, this is my son and only child, Yusei." informed Rurika once again. Rex knelt down and tried to shake the raven's hand. Yusei didn't stretch out his arm for the man.

"I'm sorry. He's still dealing with the sadness of losing his father." apologized Rurika.

"No worries. I would like you to meet my sons." said Rex. The three boys stepped forward and bowed in unison.

"The eldest is Sayer."

The boy with auburn hair stepped forward and bowed to Rurika. Yusei looked at Sayer with cold eyes.

"The middle is Edo."

Edo stepped forward and bowed. Like Rex, he tried to shake Yusei's hand, but the raven refused to move.

"And the last one is Saiga."

The brunette boy came forward and bowed. Unlike the other two boys, Saiga actually spoke.

"You can call me Blister." he whispered, showing the many blisters on his hand. Yusei smiled at him and shook his hand. Edo took notice of this and got mad.

"How come he shook your hand, but not mine or Father's?" he asked. Saiga turned to face him. "Maybe it's because he trusts me more than the three of you." he replied. Rex smacked him outside his head when he walked back to him. He then turned his attention to Rurika.

"I'm delighted to be Yusei's step father, Rurika." he praised, kissing the woman's hand. Rurika blushed while Yusei remained stoic. Rurika led the four men inside, not knowing what the future held for her or her son.

Years Later

Yusei stood in front of his mother's grave, tears falling from his face. He had a bouquet of flowers in his arms and the shirt his mother made on. Blister walked up and put his hand on his shoulder.

"Why?" asked Yusei. "Why did it take her?"

Blister rubbed Yusei's side in sympathy. He too loved Rurika as a mother and thanked her when his brothers or father wouldn't.

"She was an incredible woman and mother. I'll never forget all she did for us."

Yusei broke down in tears and sobbed on Rurika's grave. Blister sat next to him and hugged him.

In loving memory of Fudo Rurika, wife and mother.
