The Lifeguard - Tyrus

Chapter six

As TJ got in the car, his sister had a little smirk on her face. "What are you smiling about?" TJ asked in an annoyed tone, Amber let out a scoff and turned down the radio. "Aren't I allowed to smile without a reason?" Amber asked her brother who had his window rolled down. "I guess but, like, you never do that. What did you do?" TJ asked. Amber let out a small burst of giggles, 'what did she do?' TJ thought to himself once more. The two Kippen siblings had eventually made it home and opened up the front door. TJ was looking around the house to see what Amber had done, she was still smiling big so it had to be something good. He walked around the house for a bit, didn't see anything new. "Okay Amber, what did you do?" TJ asked, Amber snickered a bit "go up to your room". TJ walked through to the hallway to get to his room, Amber following him. "Open the door" Amber said. TJ opened up the door to see a duck plopped right on his bed. "Ambs... what is this?" TJ asked feeling really confused. Amber smiled big, "It's a duck, his name is Oswald!"  TJ let out a breath of confusion. "Mom and dad are going to kill you, also... what type of name is Oswald?", Amber let out a giggle, "Mom and Dad probably won't even ask why at this point. They're probably going to be too drunk or high to even realize, and FYI I think Oswald is a great name". TJ attempted to take the duck off his bed, it let out a loud "quack" at him. Amber laughed, "he doesn't seem to like you". "Shut up" TJ said in response as he got the duck off the bed. He got out his phone and opened up Snapchat, he decided to post on his story about what Amber had done.

Cyrus: You have a pet duck? I've never seen that before
TJ: It's brand new, it was a surprise actually lol
Cyrus: haha, keep us updated!

Amber leaned over TJ's phone, "Who's that? I don't remember you having a friend named Cyrus". TJ shut his phone off, "oh yeah I met him at work today. He was drowning almost so I had to give him CPR, it was insane. I'm glad his friends realized what was happening or else I wouldn't have realized that a boy was drowning right before my eyes". Amber widened her eyes, "you gave someone CPR on your first day? I'm glad you took that class during the school year or else number one; you wouldn't have gotten the job in the first place and two; that boy could've died". TJ nodded, "Yeah, I'm actually kinda proud of myself. If you're wondering why I have his snap, he asked for it nicely. He seems pretty nice".

It was getting later at night so TJ went to put himself to bed, Amber was keeping Oswald in her room. TJ didn't exactly feel tired yet so he went on his phone for a while. He opened up Snapchat and opened up Cyrus' user.
TJ: Hey
Cyrus: wow I didn't expect you to actually talk to me again
TJ: well you said you were always open to a new friendship so I decided to take advantage of it haha. Btw did you ever get someone to pick you up or are you still standing at the sidewalk?
Cyrus: I got home lol, my stepmom picked me up a few minutes after you left. My family was planning on going to Salt Lake Beach in a few days, what days are you working? We could hang out ig
TJ: I'm working most days of the week, I'll have to check my schedule.
Cyrus: okay. Its pretty late so I think I should get some sleep. Good night:)
