Christmas

now this seems kinda weird that i used one specific cat breed for this, i just feel an american wirehair fits logan the most, although i was tied with a persian as well, but you can pretend it's a different cat breed too!!

christmas was right around the corner. roman wanted to get logan a gift this year, like the usual, but he wanted it to be even more special.

three weeks before christmas :

logan was working at his desk in his office, not wanting to be bothered. but of course, with his boyfriend roman in the same apartment as his, that was impossible.
logan heard a knock at the door, "come in!" he shouted.
the door squeaked and he knew it was roman just based off of the way he opened the door.
"heeey cutie!" roman chirped.
"what is it?" logan asked as his head snaps in roman's direction.
roman took a peak at logan's desktop. "aww what a cute cat! what breed is it?"
logan let out a squeal internally and shut off his computer quickly. "nothing. it's just for research purposes."
"just tell me! how come you were looking up cats?"
"as i've mentioned before, it was solely for research purposes."
"what were those 'research purposes'?"
roman did the 'quote-on-quote' sign with his fingers (i don't remember what they're called oops)
"i-i was just seeing which cat is the smartest. i've been told that certain cat breeds are the smartest out of the rest. i believe it is the american wirehair."
logan knew that was a lie, but he didn't want to tell roman the truth.
"don't do it logan. don't tell him the truth" logan thought as he mentally facepalmed himself.
"oh really? there goes logan showing off his intelligence again!" roman pinched his cheeks.
"i suppose so-"
logan's words were cut off by a small kiss from roman.
"the american wirehair was it? i may have to look into them a bit more! they seem really cute, maybe we could do some research on them together!" roman smiled.
"that sounds like a plan." logan let out a tiny smile in return.

one week before christmas :
"okay, okay. american wirehair..." roman muttered to himself as he typed away on logan's desktop in his office, luckily logan wasn't home at the moment so he had plenty of time to look around online for anything to buy logan for christmas.
after exactly one hour and 43 minutes looking for the right thing for his boyfriend. it was a full bred american wirehair on petslist (craigslist who?) for... FREE?
roman's heart jumped as he shouted a loud "YES!" in excitement. he contacted the owner of the cat, it was a male named oliver. how could he pass up this opportunity?!

two days later :
"okay logan! i'm heading out!!" roman yelled as he stumbled up to the front door of their appartment, waiting for an answer.
"hold up!!" logan shouted in return.
logan ran down the stairs to give roman a goodbye kiss, "where are you going?"
"i'm just going to pick up a few things for christmas dinner, i know it's still days away, but i like to prepare!" roman responded.
"alright. see you soon ro" logan gave roman another kiss on the nose.
roman let out a chuckle and muttered a goodbye to logan before walking out of the front door.

after a 40 minute drive, roman met up with the owner.
"he is already declawed and neutered as you already saw on the offer. so that means he won't scratch up your furniture or spray on anything in your house" she explained, getting oliver out of her car. he was in a little cage suitable for the 40 minute trip thankfully.
"thank you so much!" roman smiled gleefully.
"you're welcome! ah! also before you go, i have some toys for oliver, i have toy balls, toy mice, and more!" she handed a small basket to roman.
"oh! thanks again!" roman added before they each got into their cars and drove off in their own directions to their respective homes.

(i skipped all the other stuff because obviously adopting/purchasing a new animal isn't that simple, but i figured not everybody would want to read it, so let's move on!)

by the time roman got home it was about a quarter to 10 (about 9:35 pm), so logan was already asleep thankfully.
tomorrow was christmas eve, so he had to try to hide the new addition to the family in the best way possible.
9:46 pm :
roman : hey i have a quick question
virgil : go to sleep roman.
roman : can i come over?
virgil : wait WHAT?! NO!! i'm not even DRESSED!!
roman : look, i'll make it up to you, so before i say this, don't panic
virgil : i'm literally thomas' anxiety ro how could i NOT panic. i got scared by patton waking me up this morning.
roman : i know i know. but listen. can i bring a cat over until christmas?
virgil : WHAT?!
roman : look! i got a cat for logan for christmas! the owner needed that cat out of her house ASAP!
virgil : hmmm... no.
