"I'm sorry."

2 words.

Short, yet it can be full of meanings, one, two, or even hundreds of them.

Hearing him say it makes her think that everything was fine, that everything was okay.

But it wasn't.

She was struck with an arrow on her stomache, with a lethal posion coated on it which can kill a person in 3 minutes, maybe even less.

How? Well,

She moved Gray to safety, with the trade of her life. She saw that the arrow was going to hit, and her body moved before she could comprehend.

"What are you sorry for, you idiot? It's not your fault this happened. Don't blame yourself over it, okay?"

"I didn't notice the arrow, Y/N! I was too occupied in something else, I-" A sniffle came from him. "I can't lose you. You're my best friend. I just--"

"You'll be fine without me, Gray. You will be. Besides, you have Juvia. Everything will be alright."

Hearing her say those words made him guilty. He knew it wasn't going to be, and he knew what he had done.

He knew, she had feelings for him.

He didn't dare to act upon it-- he was scared.

Which, ultimately became the reason as to why he pushed her away when she arrived. He thought it would make her feelings for him go away, but instead he had now realized he was wrong.

It only broke her, and she was beyond repair.

For the remaining moments of her life, he kept muttering small "I'm sorry's" and "Thank you's" to her.She couldn't be saved, he knew when the arrow struck her.

A smile came from her, and Gray could only cry harder in response.

"Gray?" She called out to him.

"Yes?" He replied, his voice hoarse and strained.

"I love you, please take care of yourself."

And he only cried harder,

Because those were her last words to him.
