The Great Feast was almost over, and I couldn't help but notice the Impericance's group. They were a small cluster of people on the ground, but most definitely the happiest witches and wizards here. Their house was laughing and chattering happily, and it looked like they had excepted the younger students as their own. Clarisse was arm-wrestling with Percy, and everyone else was watching contentedly. The look on Clarisse's face when Percy won was priceless.
I wanted to be accepted like that. I knew that I had wonderful friends, and they were used to me, but I didn't want to be something for someone to 'get used to'. I just sort of wished that I could have a friend that would love me exactly the way I am, like my Daddy.
Headmistress McGonagall had gone back to her office to talk to the Sorting Hat about the new house, so it was a surprise when she ran back into the Great Hall, with the Hat in tow.
"Would these people please come forward?" McGonagall asked, pulling out a list. "Sam Henceworth, Luna Lovegood, Aaron Moonstra, Harry Potter, Quin Remner, Ginny Weasley, and Liam Yestermin."
Everyone stared at us as we filed up to the front, near the teacher's table. There was a mix of houses, and I was confused for a second. Then I remembered the hat in the Headmistress's hand.
Sam, a fellow Ravenclaw, stepped forward, and McGonagall placed the hat on his head. It sat there for a good ten minutes before shouting loudly, "IMPERICANCE!"
We all sat (or stood) in stunned silence until protesting broke out from the Ravenclaws. "You can't be sorted out of your own house!" One fellow spat vehemently.
"What about the Quidditch team? He's our best Chaser!" Another screeched in horror.
"Sam's a Ravenclaw! The Hat doesn't make mistakes!" A person clad in blue with a book under their arm yelled.
Even though I never would say it out loud, I couldn't help thinking spitefully. Yeah, the Hat doesn't make mistakes, and he just called Sam an Impericance. Honestly, how are you a Ravenclaw?
As Sam walked toward the Impericance's picnic, they broke out into the cheers, banging their feet on the floor and clapping. He was welcomed with open arms and firm pats on the back.
"Luna?" McGonagall beckoned, ignoring the racket.
I stepped up to her, a ghost of a smile on my lips. Hopefully I would get the same results as Sam. I had always felt a little bit like an outcast among the Ravenclaws. This could be my chance to find a place where I truly belonged.
The hat was slipped onto my head, and fell over my eyes. I felt like a first year again.
Hello again, fair Moon. I see that you're having doubts about being a Ravenclaw... and honestly, I agree.
This stung a little. Was the Hat saying I wasn't smart?
Oh, no. I'm saying you're not ONLY intelligent, but brave, loyal, just, and ambitious. You, like the other Impericances, are divided. True, your wit is one of your most astounding qualities, but you would feel a little more at home with others like you. So, if it's okay with you...
The Hat gave me a second to object if I wanted.
"IMPERICANCE!"
I broke into a grin, running over to the group. They all were smiling happily, cheering so loud that I thought my eardrums might burst. I was welcomed with as much excitement as everyone else, and the guy named Percy Jackson came up and stood next to me as we watched Aaron Moonstra walk to the hat.
As it slipped over Aaron's head, Percy tilted himself my way, a warm smile on his face.
"Welcome Home."
Hey people! I know, this was an astonishingly short chapter... I'm sorry. But I actually really liked writing this. Luna was one of my favorite characters in HP and I wanted to give you a little bit of her perspective. She was always very good, loving (*snicker* Lovegood,) and kind. But I always wondered if she felt a little like an outcast for how amazing she was. I know that she has wonderful friends, but I couldn't help wanting to give her a place where everyone just saw how truly amazing she was.
Also, no. I am NOT BREAKING UP PERCABETH. Percy is just happy in a brotherly sort of way. I don't know if you actually thought he liked her, but I figured that I should just tell you this. Better safe than sorry. I don't want to make the Percabeth fandom attack me! *looks around nervously*
Anyways, I hope that you have a wonderful day, (or night, if you're reading fan fiction at 1 AM in the morning. We all do it sometimes...) and keep on being creative!
Oh shoot. That last part sounded like my science teacher... *slightly grossed out face*
Back to the point, Rev out!
