"I'm gonna miss you buddy."
I smiled, trying to keep the sadness off my face as I hugged you for the last time.
They said it would only be five minutes but I knew it would be so much longer for you.
It seemed we reached the end of the line but I guess I knew it was coming. You're such a punk sometimes you know that? But I couldn't stop you from finally getting that dance. I could be angry but I would give up anything for you and you know that. Including my happiness because it was worth it to see that hope spark in your eyes again. It was something I couldn't give you but I knew could be returned to the man who was lost in time.
You asked me to come, knowing I was lost too. But I was lost long ago, the frostbite so bad no amount of time, going back or forwards, could heal it. So I'll stay here with my heavy heart, praying for a new salvation.
