I'm not brave anymore, darling.
I'm not sure I ever was unless it was for you. But I've been gone a while, become a man that fell into a pile of ashes and snow that's been stained red with the blood of my braveness that's long since gone now. I kept up a brave face for you because I couldn't find it in myself to let you see me leaving kicking and screaming, to later on let you do all those reckless things alone. I couldn't stop you, and someone had to watch over you.I don't want to fight anymore, darling. Not like I used to, but with you I know it's coming. Though I'm tired, I pick up my brave face and use my exhaustion as fuel. The lead I hold makes my hands tremble but I shout in fury to push on through because I know these people are here for you. And I promised to protect you.
The end has come and the battles all won. Another one I survived. By luck or by chance I can't decide. I look out to the crowd and hear the applause and shouts of roaring praise, but no one asked, 'how are you?' because we are waiting for the next battle to begin. These things always end in a fight.
