Chapter Three - Shall We Dance?

Its the first day of a new month but the preparation for Prince Shiroyuki Birthday Celebration are already halfway done.

Even with all the excitement, the said Prince was unfaze. He was not the kind of person who likes such grand ceremony but nevertheless, he could still socialize with the guest if he must.

He done nothing but having practice lessons for the past week in etiquette, table manners and dancing. It is starting to irritate him now to face another day with the strict instructor.

So it came to him as a surprise when he saw a beautiful brown hair girl waiting for him. Seeing him the girl curtisy lightly showing her respect.

"Prince Riku Shiroyuki. Allow me to introduce you to Miss Hazukashii Shizuka, daughter to the Earl and your first Queen Candidate." Introduce a man he recognised as the Royal Council messenger.

"Today she will be your dancing partner in effort for you to know her better. You may start at the beginning of the music." Said the instructor nodding at the small group of orchestra at a corner.

"May I have the honour to dance with you, Miss Shizuka?" Asked Riku holding out his hand to her. "I would be delighted." Smile her taking his hand.

"So what makes you a candidate?" Ask Riku as they twirl and swirl around the ballroom.

"I don't really know. I had been keeping myself shut inside the library since I discover the joy of readings. Honestly, the stories are more entertaining for me." Said Shizuka shyly.

"I know what you mean. I have to confess that I am not much of a social person. I prefer the comfort of my room and spend time playing games." Sigh Riku.

"You can't do that! The Queen won't like it!" Gasp Shizuka in horror.

"Rather than the Queen, King Kagya will have my head on platter for my rebellious behaviour." Chuckle him.

"This is nice. Not like I imagine it would be." Told her with a smile.

"Is that a compliment? Somehow it sounded like a complaint to me. I doubt that this is what you imagine after reading all those scandalous novels." Grin Riku.

"Wh-what? They're not scandalous!" Disagree her but the deep blush on her face betray her secret. "H- how did you know?" Ask Shizuka timidly.

"Because half of the library holds the Queen collection while the other half are the King strategy books." Told Riku.

"I'm sorry..." Apologize her looking down on her feet. "Instead of apologizing, why don't we do something about it?" Suggest him. "Like what?"

A new song echoes the ballroom. A mix of violin and piano with a fast tempo.

As if in battle, the two of them dance opposite of each other yet in perfect match. Every step was sensual and fiery. And all eyes are on them.

By the end of the song, Shizuka found herself captivated. And just like that she was lovestruck and found herself dreaming of becoming his Queen.
