Esmerelda

I nudge my twin brother with my hand who sits on the other side of Benito's car seat, "Rio," I say quietly, "We're home."

He gives me a nod as he opens his eyes and stretches his arms out in front of him. I peek back at the third row and see Lena with her eyes glued to her book. I turn back around and watch as my dad pulls up our driveway and puts it in park.

I unbuckle my seat belt and help my little brother out of his car seat before opening my door. I carry him out and hand him to my mom before pulling the handle on my seat to let my sister out of the back. I grab my duffle bags before heading straight to my room to unpack.

I throw my bags on the bed and unzip them. I pull all my shoes and put them away on in my closet. As for all the clothes I packed, I just throw them all into my empty laundry hamper. I take the empty duffle bag and toss it up on the shelf in my closet.

I walk back over to my bed and start to go through my second duffel bag when I see the pencil's I bought for him. I can't help but glance out my window hoping to catch a glimpse of him.

I'm surprised when our eyes lock through the window. I give him a tight smile before mentally kicking myself for the way my heartbeat accelerates when I see him.

I try to focus on unpacking, but I feel myself wearing down and look back out the window. He still stands there and holds up his board. I can't remember who started writing first or when it even became a thing that we do but it brightens up my day.

Even with my contacts in I still need to squint to read his handwriting: How was the trip?

As I make way over to my desk, I wonder if should tell him about Johnny. The one who taught me how to be more confident and showed me that if I wanted something - or someone - then I should go out and get it. I shake my head and decide just to tell him the half-truth. The trip was awesome, but I didn't finish my book.

When I hold up my sign to him, he reads it with ease. I see him smile before erasing his board and writing something else. I take this time and notice that he let his sandy blonde hair grow out just enough that it touches his ears.

He holds his board back up with a smirk on his stupid handsome face: Nerd! You were supposed to have fun!

I stick my tongue out at me like the child I am, when I see him turn around towards the door. Zeke walks in and says something to Blake before glancing out the window and smiling. I smile back and quickly wave at him feeling awkward and slightly embarrassed.

I watch as Zeke snatches the board out of Blakes hand and quickly writes something down. He holds it up and in big capital letter's it says: HE MISSED YOU LIKE A LOVESICK PUPPY!!

Just the thought of Blake sitting a mopping around his house waiting for me to come back brings a smile to my face. I laugh as I feel my face getting hot and cover with my hands.

I peek between my finger and watch as Blake takes his board and marker back from Zeke before Pushing him out of his room. He walks back over to his window with small smile on his face before holding up his board: Need get ready! See ya later!

I throw him a peace sign and smile before walking back over to my bed. I toss my board and marker on my nightstand before taking out the souvenirs and gifts I got and place them all on my bed. I take the second empty duffle bag and toss it up on my closet by the other one.

I take my new camera off the bed and plug it in to my laptop so I can upload all the photos I took to my pig flash drive. It holds every photo that I've ever taken of landscapes, friends and family. I plan to use them for my senior scrapbook.
