Innocence
Innocence
is that look in children's eyes
When they see
what they shouldn't have
When the window breaks
And the screaming baby wakes
When tiny feet run
And slip
and run again
Innocence
Is that that thing we all lose
When we walk into a room
Breathe in the aroma of the burning sweat
And the cigarettes
Innocence
Is a game to lose
The thing we can't get back
When every man
Tells you to
"Sit back."
Innocence
Is that thing we feel slipping
Once the touches of someone
So new
Crawls upon your tiny legs
innocence
Is that thing men take for granted
And scream at you
So they can take advantage
Innocence
Is that thing
You hold
And you have no idea what its called
And the tears
Burn your eyes so badly
They feel like molten lava
you don't know whats going on
You don't like whats going on
But you can't help thinking,
"Where's daddy?"
The man that said he'd be there
to protect you
Told you he cared
That he loved you
Wheres daddy??
Where is he??
Innocence
Is that heart break
In your chest
When you realize
Daddy left you
He doesn't care
That's why he'd rather get high
Then save a life
Innocence
What is true innocence?
