"B!! B, I need you! B!!!" His eyes shot open in a fluster. He threw his body to sit up and was prepared for anything. "Oh my god!!!" Arms wrapped around his shoulders and chest, almost suffocating him.

"Alright, alright! I'm still alive!" PJ let go but placed her hands on his shoulders.

"Good, because I very much thought you were dead."

"I promise, I'm fi-" B had lifted his hand to hold PJ but she moved away. And he could understand why. The time he had spent in his subconscious had been longer then he realized. He no longer had his jacket on, no sign of it anywhere. His nails were pitch black and longer, sharp like razor blades. His spikes on his elbows and shoulders were more profound as well. His horns stood tall and his ears were fully pointed. His entire body was dark grey. "Shit."

"It progressed while you were knocked. Because it kept going, I thought you weren't dead, but I couldn't find a heartbeat." B finally noticed his surroundings. He was outside the car, next to the passenger door on the sand. The car's roof was up and it still running. "After you passed out, I drove to the middle of nowhere so I could try to resuscitate you. I got scared, I didn't know what else to do!" She started hyperventilating, tears slowly going down her cheeks. Before it could turn into something worse, B quickly brought her into a hug. Despite being terrified of his new form, she wrapped her arms around him. She just needed the comfort and reassurance.

"...I'm sorry," he said. She sniffled and shuddered into his chest. "I didn't mean to scare you." She nodded as she kept hugging him but the moment was soon ruined when the faint sounds of engines revving echoed in the distance. "They're close."

"Let's go." PJ broke the hug and got up. She helped B to his feet. They quickly got into the car, PJ still driving. She took off into the open field. She could see multiple headlights in the rearview mirror. "Think you could use any of that magic again?"

"I could, but it might result in another heart attack."

"Then hold onto that. For now, take over." She quickly let go of the wheel and reached into her holster. B grabbed the wheel with one hand as she turned around.

"What are you doing?!"

"Buying us some time! Switch to the driver's seat!" She sat on the door of the car while B shifted over. He was able to get his leg on the other side to step on the gas. Trucks were gaining on them, people leaning out the windows with rifles in hand. PJ wasn't scared. She aimed her glock and closed an eye to focus. She shot one bullet to the tire of one of the trucks and shot the gunner hanging out the window. She nailed him in the chest, his body falling limp against the vehicle. Some others shot off their rifles, PJ having to lean back into the car. "Think you could swerve a little?! I'm dying out here!"

"First off, I'm halfway in the damn seat so, this car is barely going straight!"

"Just do something!!" B pulled the wheel towards him, jerking the car to the right. PJ had to grab the roof just to stay on the car. She shot off a couple more bullets, nailing the side fo the truck near the engine and another gunner. B then jerked the car to the left. He cut one of the trucks off, PJ having a straight shot through the front windshield. She took the shot, realizing the windshield was bulletproof. "Fuck!!" The driver leaned their arm out the window and took a couple shots with their handgun. She had to climb back into the driver seat, B falling into the back seat.

"You think we could lose them?" he asked.

"Maybe. Just give me a second." She started looking around as she drove, looking for something to cover their tracks or at least slow the chasers down. She was approaching multiple cacti and large rock formations. She could see an opening made by two vertical rocks leaning against each other. "You still think you could use your magic?"
