Chap 36 - The Hearing & Sixth Year

Y/n's POV

Arthur, Harry and I took the Muggle way to the Ministry of Magic offices. Harry was wearing a casual yet businesslike suit while I was wearing a burgundy red pencil skirt, a white dress shirt with a black tie and a matching burgundy red dress coat and black high heels, holding a disguised book of magic laws. Arthur looked like a kid at Honeydukes on the escalator since we were taking the underground subway to a red telephone box that was the visitor's entrance. "Welcome, Harry to the ministry of magic. Beautiful isn't it?" I said as I watched my brother gawk at everything from the grand floo powder mantles to the large gold statue fountain and the first statue of the Minister of magic. We headed into the elevator as Kingsley whispered in Arthur's then my ear. "Merlin's Beard/balls. Thank you, Kingsley. They've changed the time of our hearing, it start's in five minutes." Arthur, Kingsley, and I walked out of the elevator as I looked down at Harry. "Department of Mysteries." I took his hand as we walked through the hall and saw Cornelius and Lucius talking. "Good Morning, Cornelius, Lucius. Arthur and can you please take Harry to the meeting room, I'll be there shortly." I said as I walked up to Lucius and Fudge as I bowed slightly. "Ah, Lady Y/n. How lovely to see you again." Fudge said as shook my hand. "Same to you Cornelius, if you don't mind may I speak to Lucius for but I moment then I will be with Harry for our formal hearing." I said as the man left me and Malfoy alone was when I showed the man my dark mark. "You better have a good explanation for me, Lucius on why this bloody hearing better not falter for me or Harry. I'm sure Voldemort will not be happy that his prize will be banished to live as a common muggle." I sneered at the man who kissed my left hand. "Umbridge is on the stand, my lady." He explained calmly to me everything I needed to know. "Your dismissed and as always I will keep an eye on your son in my free time." With that I headed into the hearing and stood beside Harry as he sat down in the chair.

"Disciplinary hearing of the twelveth of August into offenses committed by Y/n Lily Potter and Harry James Potter, residents at number four Privet Drive, Little Whining, Surrey. Interrogators Cornelius Oswald Fudge, Minister..." Fudge spoke on til a certain voice cut through the tense air of the room. "Witness for the defense! Albus Percival Wolfrick Brian...Dumbledore." Dumbledore walked to the other side of Harry and Y/n as they smiled at him. "You-you got our message that the time and place of the hearing had been changed, did you?" Fudge asked Dumbledore as he said. "I must have missed it but by a happy mistake, I arrived at the Ministry three hours early. Charges?" Y/n looked through her magical laws book as she listened to her headmaster and Minister speak. "The charges against the accused are as follows: that they did knowingly and in full awareness of the illegality of their actions produced a Patronus charm in the presence of a muggle. Do you two deny producing said Patronuses?" Y/n stopped harry from talking with her hand on his shoulder as she walked up to the Wizenagamot. "Cornelius as you and the Wizenagamot well know, that muggle was our cousin Dudley Dursley while I am permitted to now use magic out of school grounds, I chose to save my family as did harry from a trio of the guards of Azkaban prison, Dementors." Y/n said while slamming her book shut as a witch asked. "Dementors? In little Whinging?" Fudge be began to deny the facts til Y/n removed her coat and handed it to harry as she rolled up her left sleeve showing the whole Wizenagamot the mark they are all to familiar with. "You all know me well enough since my headmaster Dumbledore, Minerva Mcgonagall, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Amos Diggory have been to the many hearings you, Cornelius Fudge. Made me go to prove I wasn't a death eater and I even used the rare truth potion to tell you all everything on that faithful night when I got this blasted mark. You Cornelius Fudge are a spineless fool of a man that still refuses to see the truth." Y/n said while looking at Dumbledore as Fudge asked for a witness. Y/n helped Mrs. Figg into the chair as the council asked the woman basic questions. "Now, look here. Dementors don't just wander into a muggle suburb and happen across a witch and wizard. The-the odds are astronomical." Y/n and Dumbledore looked at Cornelius then spoke together. "We don't think anyone would believe that the dementors were there by coincidence, Minister." A girlish clearing of one's throat made the headmaster and eldest Potter look over at Umbridge. "I'm sure I must have misunderstood you, Professor and Lady Potter. Dementors are, after all, under the control of the ministry of magic. It's so silly of me, but it sounded for a moment as though you both were suggesting that the ministry had ordered the attack on you, lady Potter and your brother." Y/n scoffed at Umbridge as Dumbledore spoke up. "That would be disturbing indeed, Madam Undersecretary. Which is why I'm sure the Ministry will be mounting a full scale inquiry into why the three dementors were so very far from Azkaban and why they mounted an attack without authorization. Of course, there is someone...who might be behind the attack." Dumbledore walked up to Cornelius saying. "Cornelius...I implore you to see reason. The evidence that the Dark Lord has returned is incontrovertible." Y/n rolled her eyes at Fudge as he harshly whispered. "He's not back." Dumbledore sighed softly before speaking up to the entire Wizenagamot. "In the matter of Y/n and Harry Potter, the law clearly states that magic may be used before muggles in life threatening situations." Fudge spoke up. "Laws can be changed if necessary, Dumbledore." Y/n then walked beside her headmaster stating to the Minister and the Wizenagamot. "Clearly, it's become practice to hold a full criminal trail to deal with two simple matters of underage magic. And those who remember my mentor Albus Dumbledore was there when many of our laws were written." Y/n said as the council murmured amongst themselves. "Those in favor of conviction." A lady witch spoke as only a few hands were raised. "Those in favor of clearing the accursed of all charges." The entire Wizenagamot rose their hands up making Y/n and Harry Potter smile. Y/n walked out with Dumbledore as he ignored Harry. "What news have you got lioness to report?" Dumbledore asked as Y/n gave him all the information she knew of Voldemort's plans so far from her godfather, Severus Snape. "Risky business being a double agent for the order of the phoenix, professor although I think you should have at least spoke to, Harry. He's in danger as well as I am." She said honestly before walking over to Arthur and Harry.
