"I'm glad you've decided to join the fellowship. It is a joyous occasion to have someone we can trust."

"I'm happy to fight for a cause that will rid the world of the evil among us," I smiled nodding to Mr. Newlin who was sitting across from me. All I wanted to do was remove the table between us and gouge his eyes out.

I think I'm a little far ahead. The reason I was even here was because of a phone call 5 months ago.

"Yes, Eric?" I asked picking up the phone as I walked down the streets of New York, it wasn't all that cracked up to be and was starting to miss my friends back in Texas. Eric was always fun to be around and technically I worked for him. I ran most of the numbers for the bar and his personal investments. But that was a while ago, I said I wanted to travel and Eric almost locked me in his house so I wouldn't leave him. He cried I was pissed, it was an emotional moment. He is such a big baby sometimes.

"I need you," Eric said in a rush and I already new he was pacing the floor of his office.

"You have to clarify what you need, Eric, I'm not a mind reader." I stopped walking looking back to my car I wasn't even 10 feet away from. Knowing him, I would need to rush back to make sure he was okay.

"It's Godric.... my maker. I need a favor, he went missing and I need someone I trust to go looking for him." I could hear the silent plea in his voice. He didn't really need to ask. He could say a name and location and I'd hop to it. Eric rarely asked me for favors. I normally did what needed to be done before he could ask.

"Of course, where should I start?" I asked walking back to my car and climbing in.

"Dallas, Texas," Eric said in relief. I could hear him relaxing through the phone.

"On it."

"Also," Eric said stopping me from handing up. "Be safe, let me know what you find and don't get killed. I still need to turn you, I would hate to lose you, it is rare to find genuine loyalty."

"Over my dead body will you turn me," I scoffed ignoring the rest of his little speech.

"Well that would be the point."

A week after that I found the fellowship, who was rumored to have captured a vampire, Not wanting to pass up the chance I wanted to see if it was true and if it was Godric, the one I had been sent to find. It wasn't that hard they practically announced it to me that they had a vampire named Godric. It wasn't hard to join their little group either.

3 months after that I was moving up the ranks. Training with the others and making myself a trusted ally. I was only trusted with some of their secrets, testing the waters with me.

a month after that, was my first assignment of gathering information on vampires that I literally called Eric to ask about and give him an update about what was going on.

And now I am here, as high as I wanted to go in the fellowship. Guard duty. But not standing outside or blocking the doors. I was guarding Godric, who I learned just gave himself over. They wanted him to 'meet the sun' which I found ridiculous. I was getting him out of here whether I had to drag him or not. He was not dying before I returned him to Eric. I think the poor guy would have a melt down.

So now, being placed in front of the cage that held Godric 'captive' I was to watch over him, make sure he didn't get out and no one got in. Not that I could really stop him if he wanted to leave. I wouldn't even call it a cage, the lock hadn't been locked till we walked in and Mr. Newlin had to lock it.

"I swear, sometimes I wonder who we bring into the fellowship, but I'm glad we have you now." Mr. Newlin smiled to me once more and I faked one back. Once he left I placed my back to Godric's cage and started coming up with a plan. I also needed to get a hold of Eric later tonight to tell him his maker was alive.

We both sat in silence, I didn't really know what to say and he most likely was used to people coming in and out. His guards must switch all the time, he'll have to get used to me. Cause I don't plan on leavin.

Around an hour into my shift I heard footsteps coming from stairs, straightening up I saw one of the other trainees walking down with a tray of food and a small cup filled with what I assume is true blood. Setting down the tray he picked up the cup and walked closer to the cage. We both knew he wasn't supposed to approach the cage.

I stepped in front of him halting him in his advances. I could hear Godric shift behind me but kept my eyes on the trainee. "Thank you," I said taking the cup from his hand and setting it off the side. "You're dismissed." I nodded to the stairs from where he came but he made no move to leave. "You. Are. Dismissed," I said slower trying to get my point across.

"I just want to see." The fool took another step closer trying to get around me. Moving quickly I pushed down on the back of his knee and grabbed a fist full of his hair keeping his head back as he knelled from the force.

"You will get up," I said pulling his hair to make his stand. He back was strained, fist clenched. "And you will walk back up those stairs." I released my hold on him and maneuvered him in the right direction.

"Yes, ma'am, sorry ma'am," the boy said running up the stairs like a dog with its tail between his legs.

Picking up the cup I turned around to see Godric already standing as close as he could from within the cage. Not using the tray we were supposed to hand him things with I just handed it to him. He seemed confused but took the cup anyways.

"Do you not think you were being harsh, child?" Godric asked a hidden question in his gaze.

"No, and could you give that back for a second?" I asked signalling for the cup.

Godric looked confused as he handed the cup back threw the doors. "Something troubling you?" He asked watching me stare down into the drink.

It didn't look right. I've seen true blood before, there was something in this. "It looks like they placed something in it," I mumbled fully aware he could still hear me.

"Yes, liquid silver." Godric looked to me like I should know this.

"You're not drinking this," I said dumping it out in the sink throwing the cup away. "Here." I held out my arm threw the cage.

Godric looked at me as though I grew another head. Stepping back from my arm he looked me up and down like I was a trap he didn't want to walk into.

"If you're weak when Eric finally gets his ass down here, I'm the one who's getting an earful. So stop making this awkward and take a sip."
