Father's Day.

After his whole family problem, Mumbo could care less.

Grian has a father, he was probably talking about building plans. Iskall was probably making jokes with his father somewhere. Maybe Stress was making cupcakes with her father watching from a distance and False sparring with hers? X may be explaining some of the code to his, and Scar probably telling funny stories about the server to his own. Heck, even Joe, the server dad, was spending time with his daughter.

Every hermit had someone.

Apart from Mumbo.

Of course, Grian had asked if he wanted to meet his father, due to them basically being brothers from another mother, but Mumbo declined. He would feel extremely awkward, plus he didn't want to disturb their time together.

He remembered Grian gave him a worried look, and told him to call if he felt upset, before leaving.

So now, Mumbo was alone on the server.

The shopping district was empty and the server felt cold, despite it being moderately warm. Mumbo leant against a wall, looking at the ground.

Why him? Why was it his life that was messed up this badly?

TinFoilChef joined the game

The chat message popped up, and Mumbo was surprised to see TFC had logged in not far away from him. Usually the elderly hermit would be in his bunker...

Said hermit turned his head, smiling sadly. "You alone too?"

"I thought you had kids?"

"Oh... they don't have time for their old man anymore, heh..."

An awkward silence took place as both Hermits looked away. TFC wasn't too upset, he was used to his children not visiting, besides, they had their own kids to worry about, 5 in total for both.

But TFC knew Mumbo felt horrible.

"Tell you what, kid. Me and you, we can... how do the kids say it these days... 'Hang out'? If you want, of course."

Mumbo perked up at this. He didn't expect that offer at all. "Well... if your sure."

~~~
The duo spent the whole day messing around, TFC deciding they should prank someone (that someone being Grian) as they both put as many chickens in his base as possible. (Mumbo questioned wether TFC was PoultryMan during this)
They then went and looked around the server, reflecting back on past situations and shenanigans.
They then went back to Mumbo's base, and TFC helped Mumbo to bake a cake, which ended up looking more like charcoal than a sweet treat, but they both laughed it off.
It had taken the best part of a day, but TFC had gotten Mumbo to smile again.
The day was ending, as the sun set behind the mountains, and Mumbo walked with TFC back to his base.
"Hey, Mumbo. Thanks for this."
"But this was your idea." Mumbo giggled, scratching the back of his head nervously.
"I know... but I needed to unwind recently."
"It's no problem, dad."
Shoot.
Both Hermits froze, Mumbo going red. "I-I mean- uh- oh goodness, there's no saving that, is there?" Mumbo gave up on trying to recover his dignity, burying his burning face into his hands.
TFC chuckled. "Nope. Have a good night..." TFC then turned away, leaving a very embarrassed Mumbo by the vault entrance. Before he left, Mumbo heard him say one sentence.
"Have a good sleep, son."
~~~

Mumbo lay down the paper he was writing on. Many discarded copies lay around the base, but a few were finished. The raven haired man heard Grian shout for him, Iskall laughing in the background. He took one last look at a specific piece of paper, and smiling, before snapping his Elytra on and flying off.

The wind his wings gave off as he flew knocked the paper to the ground.

'Gather around, dear children, as I tell you the tale,
Of a lost individual, and a confused Male.
This boy lost his parents at a young age,
All hope he had, began to fade.
As this boy grew up, all his anxieties doubled,
It only got worse when his confusion bubbled
His parents showed up, but years too late
He wouldn't go with them, he accepted his fate.
He had learnt that family wasn't who you were connected to
They were the ones who were closest to you.
The ones that protected you, when Life was rough,
The ones that supported you, when you'd had enough.
The ones you trusted in their hands, your life
And the ones who held you up when you felt strife.
So all of you, who listened close,
Tell the person that you loved the most
How much they mean to you, because you never know
Maybe the feelings, they will also show.
Now I hope this was all worth it,
To hear the story of me...'
