"Can you freaking believe this?", Gemma said as she threw herself on the very comfy looking bed in the far corner of the room.
"I know, I'm so excited and nervous at the same time", I squealed, sitting on the edge of the bed next to the window. We had just gotten to our flat, we were four students and we were given two very small flats in an ok looking building, the flats were small, but it didn't bother us because it looked cosy, ours only consisted one bathroom, a small living room with a flat tv, a creamy sofa and two matching chairs with a small kitchen and two rooms, one had two beds, meaning me and Gemma would share bedrooms and the other room was pretty empty, with painting tools for us.
"In New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can do now you're in New York, the streets will make you feel brand new, big lights will inspire you, LET'S HEAR IT FO-", Gemma sang her heart out, standing on her bed doing a weird crazy dance but was cut off by a huge pillow thrown her way, knocking her off of her feet. "What was that for?", She cried.
"Sorry to ruin your little concert over there but we need to start unpacking, we're meeting with our supervisor in 5 hours", I explained. "Right", she nodded and jumped off the bed, we soon started to unpack ready for our long journey in New York...

"Isn't that a little too big?", Gemma gasped, shocked was an understatement. I couldn't help but mumble 'that's what she said' in my mind but right now was just not the right time to be joking around, in fact, I was freaking out myself.
"It might be, but that's why I'm here, to help you guys out, plus you have plenty of time, so just relax so we can start working out on what you're going to do", our professor calmed her down, if you looked around the room right now, you would see four jaws dropped on the ground but obviously Gemma was the only who managed to say something.
"Yea but sir, we can't do this, we only have 6 months, that includes the holidays and the times when we're too lazy to do anything plus the amount of hours spent on sleeping and eating or even taking a shower that's just too much, we can't-", Jessica, the third student rambled on so fast, obviously freaking out when she was cut off by professor Green, he clearly caught on how much scared we were, he's been in the business for too long to be able to just read a student's mind in 5 seconds, he was an old guy, looked about 55 years old, with grey hair, blue wrinkled eyes, he was so kind and took quite good care of us.
"Miss Jessica, just calm down, as I said earlier, that's why I'm here, and that's why you're all here, we're here to work on that, if you're going to freak out right now then you might as well just pack your stuff and go back to England, because freaking out isn't going to get you anywhere, you're not new to this whole art thing, you know well enough that painting needs calmness and patience, if you're not going to provide these two qualities for me in the next few months then we're not going to get a long so well", he said, standing up .. well, that shut her up.
"Getting back to our point", he continued after everyone shifted in their seats and calmed down a little, "Your project is to do two medium size paintings, I'm talking about 38' x 48' .. it has to be realistic, you have to be creative, use your imagination, hold that brush in your hand and let it sway on the paper, listen to loud music, get up on the roof, do whatever gets you in the mood to get that creativity that you were born with and pour it all on that white paper of yours", he tried to make us enthusiastic, and after about 45 minutes of Mr. Green's "encouraging speech" we were back to our flat.
It's been almost two months since we got here and my paintings were barely any good, I had to draw them first and then start painting, that was my way of doing all of my paintings, I usually just put basic lines on the canvas and paint the rest, make changes as I go along but since we were doing big sizes, sizes that I've never done before, it took me quite a long time to get the hang of it. But since we were given the choice to paint whatever we wanted, I chose to paint a part of Time Square, since I was in New York I thought it would only make sense, but boy was I wrong, it was way more complicated that I thought. For my second choice, I chose to paint my neighborhood back in Manchester with the side of my parent's house, since I miss them so much, (Picture of that painting http://tinyurl.com/bu7rjbs ) in the back of my mind, I thought this is going to be easy but .. it really wasn't.
Me and Zayn talked almost every single day, either on the phone or on skype, we also texted eachother plenty of times during the day, it wasn't that big of a challenge since we were only 5 hours apart. Now that it's the end of November, we get to go back for the holidays in just about a week so I was realy excited to see my family and Zayn again, I also quite missed the boys, it was hard not having them around everyday, going through my fridge and ruining my living room but hey, things will be back to normal in no time.
"Come on Gemma, we're gonna be late", I yelled at Gemma from the living room, our supervisor called us this morning, said it was important so we couldn't be late, but since I was stuck with Gemma, being on time was quite a challenge. "Alright, alright, I'm ready, no need to yell", she groaned. I dragged her out of the flat and on our way went.
"You can NOT tell Zayn about this", I squealed, that was probably the best news I've heard in two months. "Why would I tell him? we barely even talk", Gemma said. We were told that we can go back home a week early since we don't have any more classes until after the holidays so we can take our paintings and work on them back home if we wanted, I wasn't going to tell Zayn about this, I wanted to surprise him, so since our flight is tomorrow, I decided to ignore all of Zayn's texts and calls and just show up at his house tomorrow .. I wonder how he's going to react.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Are you sure you don't want a ride back? I can take a taxi", Gemma asked again for the third time in 10 minutes. "Gem, I'll be fine, just take my car back to the house safely", I jokingly glared at her. She dropped me off at Zayn's house and took my car to visit some of her family members, I wanted to spend as much time with Zayn as possible so I didn't think I'd need the car.
I took a deep breath, standing on the edge of Zayn's door, I hope he's home, I managed to lift my hand and knock on the door a few times, there was no answer until I heard a little shuffle behind the door and in a few seconds, the door flew back open ... And I wish it didn't.
"Hi, can I help you?", A girl in her undergarments smiled at me.
"Ummm", was all I could say, What was this girl doing in my freaking boyfriend's house, partly naked, who the hell does she think she is.
