Well that is quite the story you've got there

I saw my white house finally come into view. My dad had a thing for the color white, he says its a soothing color, so when we moved into this house, he painted almost every room white. I will admit, my house does look very aesthetic sometimes.

I could tell that I left my light on in my room because light shown through my dark blue blue that I keep over the window. Emily broke my original curtain while trying to make a video and my mom refused to by me a new one so I had to improvise.

My little, Sarah, had been playing outside earlier because her toys were all over the yard. There were dinosaurs, mermaids, and monster trucks all over the yard.

She's a strange child.

I walked up the steps of my house and put my key in the door. I silently turned the key in the lock.

I didn't want to wake my parents so I tried to move as quietly as I could.

I tiptoed up the stairs, making sure to step over the creaky stair, and reached the top. I could hear Sarah snoring in her room.

I walked past her room and up to my door.

I slowly turned the door knob and nearly had a heart attack.

My mom was sitting on my bed waiting for me with a mad expression on her face.

My mom's short brown her was in a pony tail. Her police uniform had mud on the side as if she had slid through it. She must've had a hard day at work.

I tried to take a deep breath to calm my racing heart. "Mom! You scared me so bad. Why are you just sitting there?"

"Why were you out so late?" She asked, ignoring my question.

"Didn't Emily text you?"

She shook her head no.

Of course Emily forgot to text my mom. The one thing I asked her to do.

"Well I told her to text you and tell you that'd I be coming home late," I started to explain. "There was a new superhero comic coming out so me and Emily and Olivia and Peter went to the comic store to get it. There was a really long line of people there so I offered to stay for them so they wouldn't be there too late. It ended up going a lot later than I thought and I didn't even end up getting the comic book."

"Well that is quite the story you got there," my mom said smiling.

I bowed. "Why thank you."

She laughed. "You are never allowed to stay late for your friends ever again."

I snorted. "Wow, mom. Way to set limits. This is really gonna affect me because I stay out late every night and party it up with my friends."

"Yeah cause you've definitely been to a party before," a familiar voice said behind me. I turned around and saw my dad standing there.

I quickly ran up and gave him a hug because I hadn't seen him in months. His arms wrapped all the way around my tiny figure, while mine only went halfway. His suit smelled faintly of pineapples.

"I've missed you so much, dad."

"I've missed you too, bails," he said, hugging me back tightly. After a few seconds I let him go so my mom could give him a hug and I got the chance to look at him properly.

There was something off about him. His short black hair was slicked back and his beard was shaved. His clean black suit looked nice and professional until you looked down and saw his multicolored socks. On the ground was his signature briefcase that had stickers all over of the places he's been since he was a salesman and traveled everywhere.

However, all of this was natural to me. The only thing that was really weird was the bandage on the left side of his neck.

I was about to ask him about it when I realized that he had just gotten back. I'll at least wait until tomorrow to ask about it.

"What are you doing back so early?" My mom asked. "I thought you weren't supposed to be back for another month?"

I could tell by her expression that my mom also noticed the bandage on his neck but, like me, she was waiting for another time to bring it up.

My dad sighed and took a seat on my bed.

"Some problems in Nebraska. They told us to all go home and they'd give us new assignments in a few months."

"Well that's not too bad," my mom said.

"Yea," I agreed with a smile. "Now you get to stay at home longer and hang out with us."

He smiled too. "Yes! We can have some of my famous casserole tomorrow night and play a game of Pictionary afterwards."

I smiled even brighter now. I was glad to have my dad back. It's always better when he's around.

We sat their talking for a few minutes until I noticed the time.

"As much as I love talking with you guys," I said, "I really do have to go to bed now or else I won't wake up tomorrow."

"You're right. You're right. Time for bed Bails," my dad said standing up from my bed.

I gave them each a hug and told them good night before I took off my shoes and crawled into bed. They both left my room giving me one last good night.

After I turned off my lights with the switch next to my bed, I stared at my ceiling for a few minutes.

I saved someone. Even if I had no proof of it actually happening since she disappeared, I will always know what happened. I saved someone today and it will forever be something I remember. I'm basically a superhero now without the powers and the suit.

Okay maybe I'm over reaching just a little bit but this was still super cool.

As I laid in my boring bed, staring at my boring ceiling, I realized that saving that girl was probably the only not boring thing I've ever done.

Tomorrow I'll go back to my normal life. It'll all be back to normal. Normal friends, normal school, all back to normal.

That night, I dreamt of superheroes and damsels in distress and other awesome things.
