Fading

Explanation

Dan woke up in a cold sweat, he sat up quickly and caught his breath. There were no screams, there was no smell of smoke. Dan stood up, he had to see phil, and maybe pj.

When dan got to the lab phil was still there, the tube was still intact, and so was pj. Dan let out a sigh.

Dan: hey, pj.

Pj: yes dan?

Pj said looking up from the screen in front of him.

Dan: I want to talk to you about some things.

Pj: ok.

Dan: first things first, who where you guys talking about in the meeting?

Pj: oh...... well, um, we were talking about a, sort of corporation, who have been kidnapping people with "powers"

Pj made air quotes with his hands

Pj: they take us and study us. Which we do here, but here we don't cross the line, we only do tests with consent from the participants. But the cooperation, Well, let's just say comfort isn't their first priority.

Dan: oh, I-I'm sorry if that was a sensitive subject.

Dan awkwardly shuffled his feet.

Pj: it's ok dan, you were going to find out at some point, any more questions?

Dan: yeah, I have a few more. Do I have... you know, "powers?"

Dan mimicked pj's air quotes.

Pj: uhhh, y-you might. If you want we could run some tests.

Dan: ok, maybe later. So this isn't really a question, but I think it might be important.

Pj: what is it?

Dan explained his dream to pj.

Dan: and then he said he was my father.

Pj sat in silence.

Pj: dan, I-I don't know what to say. Did he tell you his name?

Dan: no.

Pj sighed

Pj: dan, would you like to start running tests?

Before dan could answer there was a loud beeping sound. Pj's face lit up, literally and metaphorically, something had popped up on pj's screen.

Pj: he's stable!

Pj shouted as a wide grin spread across his and Dan's face.

Suddenly the tube opened up and phil fell to the ground. Dan immediately ran towards him.

Dan: phil!

Dan wrapped the black haired boy in his arms. He was cold.

Phil: hi dan.

Phil snuggled into Dan's chest.

Phil: you're warm.

Phil smiled up at dan and yawned.

Phil: I'm tired, can we go to bed dan?

Dan: you go without me, I have to do some stuff.

Phil stood up and walked to the door of the lab, before he could exit dan said something.

Dan: I love you phil, I'll see you in the morning.

Phil turned around

Phil: I love you too dan.

Then phil went to go rest.

Pj: so, I think the first test should be a strength test

Dan laughed

Dan: this is going to be a long night
