Holding on to someone can be painful. If you hold onto someone too much and they end up leaving you in the end, then that pain stays with you for a really long time. Making that pain go away is really hard and sometimes even more painful than getting hurt in the first place. Nothing can compare to being in love, but if the person you love doesn't seem to love you back or loves you just as much as you love them, and they end up vanishing into your memories, your heart gets broken. Mending that broken heart isn't always easy, but sometimes it is the only option that you have to live a life that seems worthwhile.

"Hey! Cherish, Wait up!" Mystic called from behind me in a panicked voice. His cape slightly flowing as he ran to catch up to me.

"Hey, Mystic. What's up?" He looked worried, so I questioned him while he caught up to me.

"Something bad has happened and you're not gonna like it." He explained almost looking like he was gonna burst into tears.

"Ok? Lead the way." I told him. He started to run the opposite way in which I was going. I hesitated for a second thinking about all the possibilities. What happened? Did one of our friends get hurt? Is someone in danger?

I stopped thinking about all the bad things when I heard Mystic.

"Cherish! Are you coming or not?!" He exclaimed.

"I'm coming, just wait. Jeez!" I yelled back and stomped/ran to him.

Once we got to the "disaster" Mystic ran over to someone's side. After I got next to them I noticed that it was Cylla.

"Cylla? What's going on?" They turned around quickly and had a very pained, sad expression on their face. There was someone lying on the ground next to Cylla. It took me a couple of seconds before I realized that the person on the ground was Zen. He was badly injured and looked like he could barely breathe.

"Zen!? Oh my god!" I gasped. I looked over at Mystic with shock and pain. "What happened?" I screamed and grabbed Mystic by the collar of his blouse.

"It wasn't my fault! We were fighting a basilisk and it got out of hand. I got knocked down and Zen was attacked in turn. I couldn't help him because the basilisk was holding me down with its tail! It attacked Zen and then disappeared into an abyss of black and purple color!" I looked down at him with anger until Zen called out to me. He sounded like he was in serious pain but I understood why. A basilisk is a giant snake-like creature that can easily cause someone to die with a single look in that person's direction. The basilisks have been wreaking havoc in the town over but there haven't been any recent sightings of them in our town until now.

"Please cut the kid some slack. He tried his hardest until Cylla came and saved us. He had no choice but to come and find you and bring you back," Zen was speaking but I could barely hear him through my rage. I stopped and looked at Zen and all the anger rushed out of me and was replaced by heartache. My heart was hurting. He was supposed to marry me in a few days. This can not be happening. Please, gods. Why him?

"Zen, please. Please stay here with me. Don't leave me," I started to cry out and beg to the gods to let him stay with me. I fell to my knees and held him in my arms. I didn't want him to leave me.

Zen raised his arm to my face and wiped my tears away. After I looked down at him he smiled at me.

"Please live happily. I don't want you to worry about me. Find someone better than me and live with him in a way that you can't with me," As he said these words he began to cry while smiling. His arm then slowly fell from my face and hit the ground. At the same time, his eyes closed and his smile faded while his soul left his body. My heart sank a little more every second that I sat next to his forever lifeless body.
