I am trapped. This unfamiliar world is holding onto my shoulders and not letting me leave. I wish to go home with all my might. The people here know that I am not from this world. In this world, I have a mother... A family. A place I can go to and cry my eyes out for no reason. And the people there will actually listen to me, but they tell me that everything will be alright.
Many thoughts have crossed my mind since that day that the universe pulled me out of my reality. It has already been a few weeks since I came to this world. These thoughts start to swarm my head and make me feel woozy. My mind then becomes blank due to my body shutting down. Panic rakes through my body and I am not able to breathe. I think of all the possible reasons the universe pulled me from my world. Maybe my world started to crumble and the universe decided to take me into this world and trade me with the other Cherish because she was the one that was needed in my world to keep it from deaths evil grip.
As my mind kept swarming, my 'mother' came into the hospital room and held my hand. She knew about the magic that switched her actual daughter with me. She still thought that it was a good thing to comfort me because of the things that she knows I have been through. She is a caring and gentle woman close to the age of 40. She has soft red curly locks that flow down to her mid back. Her face is kind and soft. There are a few faint wrinkles under her blue eyes and on her forehead.
In this world, there are all kinds of magic. There are also people who do not possess the brain capacity to wield magic. Back in my world, there was no such thing as a magic-less person. Everyone in my world would eventually get their magic. Some sooner than others. Late bloomers in my world, however, would grow enormously strong and would be able to use magic that other magic users could not even imagine wielding. Some early bloomers will be very strong though... like Zen. He got his powers when he was two, but he was one of the strongest wielders I have ever met until Zeland came into the picture.
"What are you thinking about?" a sudden voice came from beside me. My 'mother' was still next to me holding my hand. After the long silence and me just thinking to myself she must have decided to try to get me to talk a little bit. My head quickly turned to look at her face. She had a concerned look on her face. It was strange to have a mother. In my world, my mother abandoned me on a dirt road and hoped the best for me. She left and never turned back. She left a small note of apology with my name on it for whoever found me. Someone did eventually find me but instead of taking care of me they sent me to an orphanage in the nearby town which happened to be Feltscavern. As I grew, so did my magic. The orphanage eventually couldn't take care of me anymore so they kicked me out when I was around the age of 8. And then a year later I found Mystic.
The other Cherish's mother looked at me expectantly. She lowered her head a bit in sadness when I looked away from her and instead looked out the window.
"I wonder what your mother thinks of my daughter?" She commented still looking down at her lap. My head twisted to look at her. My eyes filled with pain and I started to feel sorry for the other Cherish and her mother.
"I don't have a mother..." I looked at my lap as I said this. I hated to tell her these things. My life has never been perfect but at least I didn't have to think about anyone else other than Mystic, Cylla, and Zen. Since Zen left, however, I have become selfish. I didn't want anything to do with Mystic or Cylla.
"Was there a Zen in this world too?" I looked at 'mother' and asked lightly tears starting to well in my eyes.
'Mother' looked at me and almost started to cry at the same time.
"He and the other Cherish were engaged. They had the most beautiful relationship. But one day a snake-like creature was pulled from another world... almost the same way that you came here except it was a portal that pulled the creature to our world."
"Mystic in my world told me that the basilisk that killed my Zen disappeared into a hole filled with black and purple color," I told her. She looked at me with shock. "The basilisk attacked my Zen once more before disappearing into that abyss. Zen later died and we hadn't seen a basilisk in our town before or after that incident."
Mothers beautiful red locks bobbed as she started to speak. "So you mean that that creature may have killed both your Zen and my daughters Zen?" She started to look back at her lap her eyes glossing over more and more. Droplets of water started to fall from her eyes and onto her lap. I squeezed her hand lightly which was still holding tightly onto mine.
"This may mean something. I think maybe someone wanted to provoke us and kill both Zen's so that this swap could take place." I looked over the whole of the room. Little glitter like specks started to invade my vision. I squeezed her hand once more before I could barely see anything through the glitter.
"Cherish?" She questioned the squeeze but when she saw my face she immediately stood and ran out of the room. I could feel the darkness taking over and being replaced by a bright outdoor light.
