Luka turning One

Today is our son's birthday. He is turning one and we decided to give him a minion birthday party. We also decided to make it short and sweet so we can spend the rest of the day with him as his parents. Our food was simple because it was mostly finger food and simple birthday cake which is the blue icing and sprinkles. Our son loves sweets and cake is his favorite. The decorations is already up at the picnic park due to my mom as a thank you for taking care of her. The food was prepared by Martha and Angie for a thank you for keeping their love ones safe last week when we all had went uncover to catch the Cyber guy that kept killing law enforcement and NCIS agents. We lost so many friends and friends that we considered family including myself. I lost my old mentor Jenny and Ziva was in the hospital with a coma and a 45% chance of dying. It was hard on us all.

My wife also had a hard week because her job was robbed at gunpoint. She also lost her boss and her friend was injured due to being in the crossfire. Plus she was still having a hard time being a daughter to Cora because she didn't want to be in the war zone of being a mafia daughter. She wanted a simple life. Her family and a job she what she always wanted and needed in her life.

As we was pulled from our thoughts with a hug from TJ we knew it was time to start the party. So we allowed them to play at the park while some of the adults walked the trail and the others including ourselves was talking and drinking beers, sodas or water. Once we saw that it was time to eat, we called the kids over and let them enjoy the pb&J sandwiches and other finger foods. As they were nearly done we had cut the cake and sanged happy birthday to Luka who was already diving into his portion of the cake. We was happy that our son was having fun.

It was nearing noon as we all cleaned up our area and left the park. As we was leaving we saw someone whom we haven't seen in years. It was my biological Aunt Red. Red was across the seas serving in the military after her husband Peter died. But what surprised was that she had brought her daughter Esmeralda. She looked up at us and waved hello before going to the park with her daughter. It seem like she didn't know us or had remembered us. It was like we was ghost to her. It scared me due to the fact that we used to be so close.

Babe, it's time to go. We aren't dealing with this today. I know you miss her but this is your son's day as I hear my wife talking to me. I nodded and went to go and follow her to the car. When I looked back one last time it seemed like Red had vanished and Essie wasn't even there. I then remembered it was all just a memory because Red was dead and Essie was living with her father in Brooklyn. It made me sad that Essie wasn't here with me or Red. I miss them both.

Babe, we is here my wife says to me. I'm now out of my gaze and I smile before unbuckling my seatbelt to get out the car and grab Luka so we can go see the bats in their environmental habits.

We then reached the cave instructor and paid our fees so we can all explore the cave and the bats. The further we went into the cave the more we was filled with joy due to the bats educational facts and seeing them. Luka is having fun to because he is smiling his cheeky grin while looking at the bats and saying vats vats making us all laugh.

Once the tour was over, we got back into our car and drove home. It was near nightfall and I was driving this time so I decided to take us to the beach to watch the sunset and we did. It was filled with peace and for once my wife held me and our son with a smile on her face.

She was coming around and I loved it. She has been helping more with Luka and she had started to be more loving to us both. We are really starting to become the dynamic duo again with our little sidekick Luka. It had me happy that I felt this and now she can too.

Babe, Regina my love what would you say if we tried for another kid, I had asked Regina and Regina replied back with a yes but when the time is right. It warms my heart that she wanted to try again. So I nodded and leaned up to kiss her lips.

We just spent the rest of the day being within each other presence. It was now getting colder so Regina and I had grabbed Luka from his sandcastle to get back in the car and head home.

Once we got back to our house and put Luka to bed. We did our nightly routine and headed to bed ourselves. But this time we went to bed with a smile on her faces and me being the spooning of my wife back. Today was just a day that we needed and I knew Regina and our son would probably agree.

Babe, quit thinking and go to sleep. I smiled and then I went to sleep with  Regina falling to sleep right behind me.
