Chapter 1: First Impressions

Trinity POV

Nervously stepping on campus grounds, I could not help but gawk at all the activities and people around me. It was my first day here and I had already checked out blueprints of the area and memorized it to heart. I felt like that was more out of habit so I know where the fastest escape routes would be. But, I also wanted to know where the hot spots were for college students and fun places to go. I felt kind of like a loser that I had to do so much research because I really had no idea what college is all about other than getting an education then a degree. I even watched a bunch of romantic comedies, comedies, and every type of movie genre that were based on college life. I'm still unsure if the movie really depicted real life stuff though but it was still possible so I couldn't even rule it out.

Holding onto my backpack tighter, I walk further in while I looked at the clubs and activities around me. The whole campus was hustling and bustling. I was certainly not prepared for this much stimulation on my first day but, I guess this is what they call 'Welcome Week'. I turn to my right and see these girls in skimpy outfits flocking their assets at a booth and next to them, were these muscled guys only wearing shorts doing the same. With that, I couldn't help but cringe. That was too much for my liking and I deducted that those people are in fraternities and sororities. When they were depicted from movies, it was always kind of sloppy and in general society there was a stigma against those kind of people because of all the inner workings behind that. I decided the night before I was going to stay away from that.

Swiftly, turning away from those people, I didn't realize that my swift turn would make me run into someone. The person tried to hold me by the arms to steady me because the impact was going to cause me to fall, but instinct came in. Instead, I quickly push off of the person's chest so I gain momentum to rotate my body so I can do a backhand spring. I hear a loud exhale meaning I knocked the breath out of the person when I pushed off, while my long legs follow the motion of my body but this time I hear a cry of pain as my foot connects with the person's face.

Once I was standing in an upright position, the once loud crowd were now quiet. Almost everyone witnessed that whole thing. I tried to shake off the stares but I could not help feel completely embarrassed. Heat from embarrassment crawled up to my face while my eyes frantically looked around.

"Damn, nice reflexes!" A guy suddenly blurted out near me. He had black buzzed cut hair, dark eyes, crooked nose, puffy lips, muscular, and tan. He was definitely attractive.

I turned my head down slightly trying to hide my reddened face and tried to apologize to whomever I caused harm, but when I looked up through my lashes, I see a tall, dark haired, handsome man rising off the ground. My eyes widened slightly causing me to get even more nervous. I awkwardly spoke in a quiet tone, "Uh... yeah... Uh... I'm real sorry about that... it was a reflex." I cringed as I tripped over my words. Even more embarrassed now, I really wanted to get the hell out of this environment STAT!

I quickly turned to leave, but someone grabs my arm. In return, I jab my elbow into the person's stomach and rotate their body so I have an arm pinned behind their back while I was behind the person.

"Damn it! Let me go!" The guy cries out. I let him go suddenly as if I was burned by him, and he loses his balance causing him to fall over. I cover my mouth in surprise because I cannot get away fast enough. This is extremely humiliating...

"OMG! Ah! So sorry! You shouldn't have snuck up on me like that!" I apologize frantically.

"Wow, I thought I'd never see the day the great Damon would get beaten up by a girl, especially one that looks like she wouldn't hurt a fly." A guy says right next to the one with the buzz cut.

"Excuse me? Did you just call me weak?" I ask and narrow my eyes as I look at the guy completely forgetting about the crowd. I felt insulted. Looking him over, I see he has sandy blond hair, blue eyes, straight nose, small lips, and muscular. I also find him attractive but the other guy has nothing on both of them.

"Obviously not! Just saying you look innocent." He says his eyes alight with amusement.

"Damn, you can really take a toll on a guy's ego, sweet cheeks. Try not to mess with me like that anymore if you know what's good for you." A sexy voice says in pain.

I finally turn and run right in front of the guy that I have somehow managed to beat up. Up and down, I look at his body making sure that I did not cause him that much damage. Since we were so close, I made sure nothing was broken as I roamed my hands on his body. When I finally assessed him and felt like he will be fine, I stand back a few feet and I drink in his appearance. He has dark brown hair that appears to be almost black, and it is styled in a messy look, but you could tell he just runs his fingers through it. He has plump kissable lips, straight nose, and piercing gray eyes with dark long lashes surrounding it. His eyes are beautiful I mused as I looked down at his clad body. He is in a muscle V-neck t-shirt that outlines the contours of his muscled boy and washed out black jeans. Wow, he is S-E-X-Y. Compared to the other two guys they've got NOTHING.

I hear contained laughter from the two guys and I suddenly look at the guy once again. A smirk is playing on his lips, and I wondered why until he spoke, "Are you done looking me over and feeling me up?" I can hear great amusement behind his questions.

What I failed to realize was that that whole time I was a creep putting my hands and eyes all over this handsome man. Not only did I do that, it was in front of the whole student body! I just want to go home and possibly bury myself in my backyard. Or maybe... even just shoot myself.

Then, he continues, "I don't really mind, but you're really not my type. I have standards and you just don't make the cut." In return he looks me over starting from my black sweater and dark gray sweatpants hiding every single part of my figure. He looks further down to my black flip flops that showed off my pedicured blood red toenails. He then starts looking back up at my face. My usually long, light brown, wavy hair is up in a sloppy bun. A top my blue eyes is my black thick rimmed glasses. I purposely tried to look this way as a way of a disguise but now I'm feeling a bit self-conscious underneath his gaze.

Trying my best to swallow my embarrassment and his once over of me, I put on my game face, and reply haughtily with my head held high, "Yes. I was making sure that your fragile body wasn't hurt since I literally threw you around like a ragdoll. Plus, there wasn't much to feel or see. It was a great disappointment since you put yourself in such a high regard." No one talks to me like that.

"You're hurt that someone that looks like you can't get a guy that looks like me." he replies in a barely contained frustration. I can tell what I said got to him. It's only fair since he insulted me first. I may have embarrassed him but that was an accident. I didn't mean for that to happen it was a learned reflex after many years of being an assassin.

I knew if I react from his taunt again this argument will never end so, I decided to end it. "Oh... Well I guess getting your attention like that was a total waste of my time. It was so incredibly stupid of me. You're right though, you have standards to meet and I don't meet any of them." I sigh pretending to be disappointed. "I'm really sorry for the embarrassment I caused. Good-bye!"

"Oh... I'm glad you had a change of heart..." he trailed of confused and surprised by my response.

Gripping onto my backpack's straps once more, I walk away without looking back. I turn my head slightly, not enough to notice and I see them standing there with shocked and confused faces. At this point, my idea of staying under the radar isn't going to happen anymore. So with one last thing, I turn around far enough where they can't catch me but near enough for them to hear me, I say, "By the way, that was all pretend! I would never waste my breath on some egotistical jerk that bullies others and base people's beauty off their look! You're a big dumb asshole!" I turn around and start running and round a corner no longer in sight.

The day wasn't even over and I think I've already made some enemies.
