ONE:: THE BEGINNING

-money, money, money - that's all people in 21st century think about, right? focusing on their careers more than on their families. the young boy got up from the couch in his parents' mansion (he refused to call it his, although he lived there alone) and turned off the TV.
he has had enough of listening about catastrophes, caused by careless and drunk drivers. why do they not care? don't they know how precious a person's life is and that, in comparison to money, you can never earn it and get it back.
lee youngsu wasn't like the others. people at his school always called him out, made fun of him and took his belongings, but he didn't mind. he knew, that they needed to feel dominant, they needed to feel as if they had power, in order to feel good. because feeling good is all that matters.
he wasn't alone though. his only friend - jung wookjin. wookjin was almost as small as mill, which meant, an easy target. the boy used to always fight back and defend himself, however, once he saw his friend's point of view, it all changed.
both boys were inseparable, since day one. they every second together, and they had a lot in common. their parents were rich and CEOs of very big companies. they always worked and didn't have any time for their children, but that was okay - the boys had each other now. both youngsu and wookjin hated the world they lived in, and both wanted to change it.
youngsu sighed. he was tired - his day at school didn't go very well, and his best friend was ill, so that added up to it. he just wanted to go to bed and sleep, sleep and sleep, dreaming of green gardens, full of flowers, and an echoing laugh.
the boy threw his half-eaten dinner in the sink and went to his room, opening his phone and calling his best friend. he was worried about wookjin, since the other boy got ill rarely.
after a good one hour on the phone youngsu finally went to bed, closing his eyes and finally falling into a deep slumber, filled with love and happiness.

wookjin woke up early. it wasn't like him to wake up before 10am, especially on a saturday morning, but he did, probably because of the slight cold he caught. the boy got up, walking into the bathroom and quickly brushed his teeth, sneezing a few times while doing so.
he smiled, it was finally the weekend! now he could spend some time with his best friend and finally get out of that empty, plain house he couldn't even call "home".
wookjin quickly dressed up and started walking to younsu's house, which wasn't that far. on his way he saw people, no, robots in human bodies, walking around with their faces in their phones. no one ever payed attention to their surroundings - only to the electronic devices they held.
the boy sighed. he was tired of living in this plain world, where people couldn't even have a proper conversation, which didn't include their phones. he wanted something real, not just virtual realities that were worse than drugs.
finally reaching his friend's house, wookjin stopped. he then thought about how grateful he was about having youngsu - something he did every time he went to his house. the boy loved his best friend more than anything and he was so so so thankful for meeting him.
the young boy looked at the house in front of him - same old black house with white door, same dirty windows with pulled curtains, same sign at the door, saying "do not disturb!!". it used to have three exclamation marks once, but one of them fell, because some old man went to the wrong house and bumped his head in youngsu's front door, knocking it out.
sighing, wookjin pressed the doorbell, as he did every saturday, and waited. a few minutes later a tired youngsu showed up at the door. he looked as if he has just woken up - his hear was disheveled, his eyes were half-closed, he was still im his pyjamas (which consisted of oversized sweater and sweatpants - adorable!).
- o-oh hi? - youngsu said, looking at wookjin confused.
- hi! did i wake you up? never mind, can i come in? it's 6:30am and i'm kinda freezing right now! - wookjin smiled and quickly entered the house, leaving a confused youngsu behind.
- what are you doing here? i thought you were not feeling well?
youngsu sat next to his best friend on the couch, his head falling on the younger's shoulder. despite being the older one (just by a few months), he was the softer one of the two friends and he enjoyed skinship more than anyone.
wookjin always felt as if he had to take care of his friend, to protect him and make him happy, because the other boy was just so fragile - he was like made from glass. once broken, it could never be fixed. the glass has already began to crack up, but the two boys worked hard to prevent it from doing so.
- are you hungry? i can make you something to eat. - mumbled the older boy, his head still on the other boy's shoulder, his eyes closed.
- it's okay. sleep a bit more and then we can go out and eat those pancakes you absolutely adore, huh?
wookjin felt younsu's nod against his shoulder and smiled.
