A/N : Hey so sorry about this one haha.. it's not great for how long it took but I'm getting into writing that's more comfortable to me soon. Enjoy though! This one was fun.

How does one feel alive? Is it the feeling of blood coursing through your veins? Is it the pounding of your heart? Is it the overwhelming heat you feel in the face of fear? If it was any of those things, Chenle knew nothing of them. From the first moment he could feel, he was cold. Cold blooded, cold hearted, just cold. Unsure of where time went, his memories begin again only now.

One eye opens, then two and Chenle struggles to keep them focused on one thing. Now that isn't because a lot is going on, in fact he's alone. A large, empty, white room surrounds him and somehow he can see the whole space at once. He feels a surge of drowsiness take over his body and he rests on the oversized bed in the corner of his room, tucking himself away in heavy blankets. Sleep slowly consumes him and even he isn't so sure how or why he feels this sluggish, but he lets his eyelids sag anyways.

Moments later, Chenle was startled out of his sleep by the faint, but very present sound of tapping. He pushed the suffocating covers off of himself and tried to find the will to get up. The sound of tapping is persisting; however, and Chenle can't stand it. He slowly stands on shaky legs and approaches the door of this large room, something he had noticed but chose to ignore as he was so tired. He reaches for the door knob, but is startled to find that it is locked from the outside. The window from the door is no help, showing only more white walls beyond. In a panic Chenle fumbles with the knob. His nails begin to glow red, and for the most part that's the only color he's seen so far.

Tap

Tap

Tap

Tap

The tapping continues and progressively becomes louder. Defeated, Chenle moves to sit back on his bed. His? He thinks, definitely his. It comes as a sudden shock to Chenle as he hears the door knob being fiddled with. The first coherent mumbles come out of Chenle's mouth at the shock.

"Wh-o.. o-"

He wondered where he learned that, and how he understands it. He wondered why his nails were still red. Above all, he wondered where he even is. Those thoughts; however, are pushed to the back of his mind as a young, tall, skinny woman enters his room. Dressed in all white, she approaches the surprisingly calm boy with a tray holding a syringe or two and a smaller tray with a glass covering. She walks slowly towards Chenle, caution in her voice.

"Hello there Chenle," she starts,"I have some treats for you, please don't be afraid of the needles. They won't be necessary if all goes well." That statement leaves Chenle confused, and all at once in a sense of panic. His nails, he notices turn from bright red to the murkiest black one could imagine. Chenle nods as to say "I understand," even though he isn't sure if he does. The woman sets the tray down on his bed and sits at what she deems a comfortable distance from Chenle.

She lifts the glass cover with caution as she watches Chenle for any reaction. His eyes fall to the contents of the smaller tray. He notices a small glass of water and an insect incased in a lollipop. He isn't sure why it looks so appetizing to him, but he can feel himself salivating. The woman in the room went almost completely unnoticed as she motioned to the tray. Only being acknowledged when she says, "you can eat if you'd like Chenle." He carefully holds the cup of water in both hands, and takes a small sip of the cool, refreshing water. Only then does he realize how dry he really felt. He then goes for the lollipop, and once it hit his tongue, he can't fight the buzzing urge to finish it. The flavor, he thinks, is otherworldly. The lady in his room gives him one final smile and Chenle starts to feel sleepy again. The room begins to spin and little by little Chenle blacks out.

Once more, Chenle wakes up. One eye and then the other. This time however, he was met with color. Bright greens, dark browns, and spots of reds and yellows. He had found himself in a jungle. He felt oddly at home, more so than before. Chenle looks down to see his nails changing to the color of the deep green beneath his body. His hair that has grown well past his eyes also changes. Did his hair always change? He decides to investigate later. Right now, the only thing he can think of is food. He stands up on shaky legs and begins to walk and explore his new environment.

After a few yards in each direction, he is met with glass. This was an enclosure. He couldn't see much beyond the glass, but again his hunger overtook any other thought in his mind and he lost interest. Chenle's eyes wander for a moment, almost uncontrollable but there's no real problem. He sees red for a short moment. A bolt of red lightning maybe. Fast and untraceable. Chenle's eyes begin to dart after that, chasing the red figure until it settles. All is still for a moment. The red in his eyes cool and his vision returns to normal. A rustling in the leaves ahead of him confirms that he is not alone.

A boy, around his height emerges from the greenery. Hunched over, face streaked with tears, small disc-like ears protruding from the top of his head, and a leathery tail that stood frozen behind him. Chenle tries to think for a moment, unsure of what he's feeling. His insides rumble and his pupils dilate, he knows what he wants now. With one swift lunge, Chenle finds himself on top of the squirming boy. He licks his lips as he begins to lunge forward and starts to take a nice big bit-

Shatter!

There was momentary stillness

then the sirens began.

He detangles himself from the boy underneath him and feels weak arms pull him elsewhere. And after that, there's nothing but blackness.

That's all Chenle can recall as he shakes awake at 3:26am, curled around that same mousy boy from his memories. Chenle recalls the events of that night earlier. He recalls how in panic of helping Jisung, his hair and nails stained black, and in the moment Jisung kissed him how that black became rosy pink. Jisung overpowers Chenle In more ways than he'd care to admit. Jisung is the only one that can make Chenle forget who he is and what he's capable of. Chenle figures if only Jisung knew how they really met, maybe things would be different for the two of them. The facility, the pure white of his memory, the jungle, the hunger, none of it is completely clear to Chenle. But in the moment, Jisung twitches in his sleep and grabs to pull Chenle closer and the cold-hearted Chameleon boy decides to piece everything together later. For now, he was with his boy.
