He lays awake, the lack of food scraping away at his stomach and his muscles feel weaker and weaker every second. They're both lying on the open field, legs delicately intwined with each others and the even breathing of a sleeping being.
As he lays awake he sees the stars, the billions of balls of gas hung in the sky in a lovely array of all to see and he remembers the first night of the attack, sitting in the ruins hidden by a wall listening to growls and explosions in the distance, both bodies slowly filling with anxiety. Phil has his heavy head leant on Dan's shoulder, Phil breathing warm breaths down Dan's arm as he slept. Dan's looking at the stars. Unseen galaxies stretched overhead, now visible from the electricity cut and lack of light pollution.
That's when he fell in love with Phil, on the first day of meeting him.
But ever since then its bothered him so frequently that you can't fall do deeply for someone just like that and everything felt so false and unrealistic but he hates to think that his feelings are probably an illusion or are fake because he really does feel it surging through his whole body and beating with his heart.
Then his mind flickers to the camera lens he saw and it sends a troubled feeling throughout him.
A camera lens can't just... float.
Can it?
He sighs. A deep, big heavy sigh that fills his lungs with oxygen and makes his body feel lighter for a few seconds and he thinks about how lovely it would be if he could just float into space with Phil and live with him on a star forever.
But stars are made of gas and that would hurt.
He yawns, a small noise escaping his throat while doing so and he feels Phil shift beside him, a small sleep whimper that followed after.
Cute.
He feels like his slowly slipping away from consciousness before waking up again.
But hes not in the field and hes not with Phil.
Instead hes flooded with a white light that pierced his eyes and he felt as if he was breathing for the first time, theres a sharp pain at his left forearm and a soft beep that was slowly gaining speed. He sat up, every limb of him body screeching with pain and what seemed like thousands of tubes and injections were pulled from his skin sending a loud alarm to ring though his cloudy head.
Its a long corridor filled with millions of unconscious bodies all hooked up to machines and a heart monitor each.
He gets out of the hand wash smelling bed and he's wearing clothes he's never seen before but he doesn't stop for a moment because theres shouts at the left end of the corridor so he stars to run, adrenaline pumping through his veins and his heavy heartbeat sounding through his ears clouding out all sounds around him.
"--GET HIM-!"
He's running though the hundreds of beds, the beeping heart monitors echoing through his ears and his lungs start to burn and ache and his whole body is in pain,
"-SHOOT HIM!"
And thats what triggered every warning signal in his body and he felt as if his heart was being so hard it hurt.
Shoot him.
