dan had never been so scared in his life and he was almost sure that he was going to die of a heart attack before the dragons teeth sunk into his flesh and licked his blood of his lips.
the dragon made numerous clicking noises in its throat, sniffing the air with large breaths and scales feeling the atmosphere. it was rather breathtaking, its scales reflecting the flickering lights and sparks flying from ripped cables, its eyes shone a deep black, much to the likeness of a demon, its wings were pale, thin veins running through the slightly transparent skin, all joining to the thin bones that assisted its flying, its teeth were like flawless ivory, glinting and coming to a sharp point, it was like nothing dan had ever seen.
he could hear the faint scraping noise of its hard scales against the floor and the click of its claws coming closer to his hiding point and he started to breath heavier.
he felt as if his lungs were going to explode from each sharp breath that he took that made his head dizzy and heat race faster but he couldnt control himself, he felt as if he was falling from the brink of consciousness.
it was now about three steps behind him and he was almost certain it could hear his breathing and taste his fear, so he prepared for the inevitable. he blew heavily from its nostrils, the warm air hitting dans skin and making goosebumps crawl along his skin.
he then saw it, its large head swung from around the desk and he was met with a large, black, unblinking eye. it seemed to examine him for a long while, shifting slightly, then finally, it snorted in an unimpressed manner. dan blinked, remembering to breath and he wondered if he was dead or the dragon was choosing not to eat him and just state at him.
it snorted again, and lifted its head, so its horns brushed against the roof, and it curled its lip, still staring straight at dan.
suddenly dans mind exploded with inhuman thoughts and emotions that made him light headed, images of galaxies and stars exploding faded through his mind and his whole body began to shake while his muscles burned. then it all stopped and dan felt the contentment of just being with his own thoughts. the dragon flinched away from dan, puffing a billow of smoke from its nostrils and head turned quizzically at dan.
a peaceful silence fell over them, the only noise was the heavy intakes of oxygen the dragon took and the small crumbling of rubble that fell from the hole in the roof.
"can i..." dan started, surprising himself for beginning to talk. the dragon made a small grunt and dipped its head towards dan.
"can i go?" he asked, barely a whisper and heart still pounding.
the dragon blew heavily at dan, rustling his dusty hair.
"i..." dan started to stand up, muscles ripping in pain before being stopped by a heavy growl from the dragon. he froze, before his legs gave way and he thumped back to the ground.
the dragon seemed to sigh, before awkwardly crawling around and showing dan his back.
a minute passed, dan unsure what to do before the dragon swung its head around to stare at dan, tilting its head slightly to its own back.
dan struggle to stand up again, dust falling off his clothes and muscles in every limb aching, the dragon clicked a few times, attempting to shuffle closer to dan but only succeeding in throwing up more dust.
dan staggered to the dragon before failing slightly and falling on its shoulder for support, the dragon snorted in surprise, body shifting up slightly. a small groove in the dragons shoulder caught dans eye and he pulled himself up with it, the hard scales peeling off some skin on his palms.
he then found himself seated comfortably between two spikes on its back, his legs supported by the bones and hard muscle in its shoulders.
the dragon made a content noise before standing up, still a little crouched from the celling limit.
