Breakfast with the guard

{Jezzabelles Pov}

"You sure? I don't think the king would be happy if I missed a day of my cleaning to watch over a male guard he beat up recently?" I replied confused at the fact that the queen wants me to stay with John in the infirmary room,

"Dont worry about him, you just watch over him for now while I go run a few errands okay. Do not leave his side unless you gotta go to the bathroom, capishe?" She asks as I nod slowly still trying to figure out why I was doing this instead of doing what I was actually bought for in the first place,

"Ok, bye now. I left some food for you on the side table incase your hungry while Im gone" She says waving at me while rushing down the hall,

I let out a sigh before walking back into the nursing room John was resting in currently.

"She left you to care for me?" John asks now sitting up in the bed he was on,

"Are you sure you should be sitting like that right now?" I ask remembering that some of his ribs were broken when they carried him into this room the day before,

"Do you know nothing about vampires human?" He asks with a smirk as I shrugged,

"I know you guys drink blood" I blurt out making him laugh loudly before hissing as I rushed over to grab his arm in panic,

"Are you okay?! Did you break something? Are you in any pain?" I ask scanning his body hurriedly before stopping when I see him staring down at my hands which was still wrapped around his arm,

"Oh! Sorry" I say pulling away as he chuckles,

"No, its okay" He says with a nod,

"Okay well um....I'll just be over here......if you need anything" I replied awkwardly sitting down on my chair beside his bed,

"Delivery" A voice announces as I turned to see a vampire nurse walking into the room now holding a closed tray,

"Your breakfast" The lady says moving a little table sticking out from a rolling thing on top of Johns lap,

"Good day" She says bowing down at John with a smile before walking away with a glare towards my direction,

"Oh my gosh fruits! My favorite!" John shouts sarcastically with a frown while taking off the lid of the tray, 

I laughed seeing his expression at his plate full of fruits before turning to the side table where the queen said she left me some food.

I picked up the large plastic bag on the table that had my name on it written on a small tag, opening it to see what was inside since the bag felt a little heavy.

Two large burgers, a foil wrapped paper plate that had pancakes and waffles, a small bottle of syrup, another foiled paper plate with eggs, bacon, and sausage in it, a square container of brownies and cookies inside of it, and a bottle of chocolate milk on the side of the bag.

When she said food, I thought she'd mean like a bag of chips or something, I didn't know she was going to give me all this for breakfast.

"Looks like you being spoiled by the queen has become a routine, human" John says as I turned to see him smiling at me while eating a piece of water melon,

"Did you want some? There's a lot of it in here that I know I'm never gonna finish" I say picking up the burgers and handing him one as he looks down at his plate before pushing the table in front of him aside,

"Thank you human" He exclaims happily grabbing the burger qucikly as I laughed,

"So, why exactly did the queen leave you here with me? She's never had a maid watch over a guard before" He says before taking a bite out of his burger,

"I don't know. I was trying to ask her but she left quickly before I could say anything else" I answer back with a shrug,

"I think she just wants the maid I was beat up for talking to, to take care of me now" He says with a wink as I raised a brow,

"Beat up for? What do you mean?" I ask in confusion,

"I was told that the king doesn't take it very well when one of his guards is flirting with one of his maids" He says with a frown making my eyes widened in shock,

"Flirting?" I say slowly looking up at him seeing he was now smiling at my expression,

"What else would you call it human?" He ask leaning closer to me as I felt my face turn red,

"I thought it was just a morning stroll" I say nervously looking down at my burger now,

"I guess you really are more pure than I thought" He says moving his hand off his bed to push back a strand of my hair that was in front of my face,

"Your a beautiful human Jezzabelle, and if the king didn't beat me up yesterday I would've shown you how I really felt about you after all the flirting I did that morning" He says as his fingers trailed under my chin to lift my head up,

"Shown me?" I ask tilting my head sideways while he laughed,

"Like this" He says leaning over the bed as my heart started pounding faster at how close he was starting to get now,

My body felt frozen when his lips landed on mine quicker than I thought.

"Whats going on in here?!" A voice shouts as we both pulled away in shock.
