A Letter Back To You

I remember the time I walked away from you.
My feet trying to stand firm on the ground, wanting to never leave.
Your face stagnant, I couldn't tell whether leaving was a wise choice.
I'm sorry for that.

I remember the day you changed.
You looked away from the wall, and looked ahead.
Did you love me for the sake of pity?
I'm sorry for that.

I remember the day we were joined.
You looked down, your face staring into nothing but the floor below.
At that time, I knew you did not love me, my dear.
I'm sorry for that.

I remember the day I first met you.
You looked around in the bed of flowers
I found myself staring, despite you being a stranger.
I'm sorry for that.

As I write back, with small tears in my eyes.
I realise in this moment.
This is my last goodbye.
I'm sorry for not looking back one last time.
I'm sorry for the longing you have kept awake.
I'm sorry for not choosing to say I love you to your face.
For all of that, I'm sorry.
