It had been five years since the entire ordeal with The Ripper.
Erik swung his sword around in preparation for his training. After Jean's execution, the tensions in Meryl towards the Decapolis hadn't gotten any better. In the end, Erik and his family moved back to the Decapolis to a city called Lyca. It was different from Meryl. Lyca was more friendly to outsiders, more gentle towards its citizens, and happier over all.
Erik thrust the blade out and activated its power.
He never forgot his promise to Jean to take care of the knife. A year after his family's move, Erik joined the guard at Lyca under the guide of Raios, his father's friend. Even though Raios was younger than Erik's father, he greatly respected him.
Erik summoned a crackle of lightning that raced across the ground.
With Raios' help, Erik transformed the knife into a different weapon. The once murderous blade became the chain for a chain scythe, Raios' weapon. It no longer erased memories but the powers of other Imperis. Erik trusted Raios with the weapon. He was the type of man Jean would have wanted to wield the knife.
Erik stabbed at invisible enemies.
Now that Chris was older, his little brother had decided to learn the art of healing. In the next year or so, he'd be moving to a city in the north to study under a man named Hermes. His little brother never knew the truth about Jean. Maybe when he was older, Erik would tell Chris the story.
But not yet.
Someday.
