Dalia stalked into the large empty classroom glumly and dumped herself on a vacant seat next to a window. There were many rows in front of her running up to the teacher's desk in twos. meaning that someone would have to sit next to her. Dalia didnt care much at the moment though. She felt horrible. Not only had she rejected someone's phone number but she also ran away without properly saying bye. Dalia sat wide-eyed as she ran through countless reactions that Shayne could of had from her espionage. She will never be able to live with herself again. A sudden urge rose up inside of her to scream her lungs out or hide under a bench.... A bench! But of course, Dalia new she could do none of that (not in public anyway.) It would just add to her growing pile of shameful things. Its too late anyway, Dalia doubted that she'd ever run into Shayne again. Meaning she won't be able to apologise or talk to her... or.
Thousands of shuffling footsteps sounded putting her train of aching worries to an abrupt halt, Dalia turned to the doorway just in time to see 20 odd students bombard into the empty classroom and fill the once quiet room with the buzzing energy of twenty children. Suddenly the classroom didnt feel as large anymore. Dalia smoothed out her wrinkled blazer automatically and hunched closer to window. She tried as hard as she could to not be noticed by any of her classmates. Dalia had enough traumatic encounters with strangers for one day.
not long later there was laughing and shouting as people crowed themselves on desks next to thier new acquaintances or friends from last year. Bags were thrown messily across the classroom and chaos wrung the very walls. This is happens every year, people get over excited seeing thier friends after so long and wreck everything . Dalia of course recognized no one from the many faces swarming around the small classroom as this was her first day in her brand new school. Dalia thought firmly to herself that these next few years would be completely calm and peaceful where she'd keep to herself with no one bothering her. No friends. Dalia's mind wondered to Shayne and she shook the thought away before she started obsessively worrying about it again. No more friends, no more fakes. Dalia pulled out a book from her bag and borrowed her mind deep into the story where it took her away from the noisy classroom. She was just about to get comfortable before there was a large ringing made her jump out of her seat. Nearby students noticed her flippant reaction and sniggered. Dalia felt her face begin to bubble red hot and she repositioned herself in her little corner hiding her face; pretending to continue reading her book. THAT was embarrassing... And just as Dalia thought that it couldn't get any worse, the form tutor entered the room.
Mrs lodvey was a uptight looking woman with thin lips and a pointed nose. Her face was a downward triangle which made her chin look oddly pointed. She swept into the classroom almost silently and stopped by the front of the desk to eye the students. Dalia made eye contact and Mrs lodvey's mouth tightened which made it look even more angular than usual. Dalia gulped as a wave of fear washed over her. Mrs Lodvey held her ex-student's gaze for another split second and turned away to scream at the class. Dalia couldn't help but feel embarrassingly relieved.
"ALRIGHT YOU PACK OF WILD MUTTS!," half the class jumped at the sudden blaring noise and the other half gave a yelp. (Dalia glanced behind her to see that her recent mockers had the same flippant reaction she had when the bell went, she covered her tugging grin behind a hand) Mrs Lovey's beady eyes darted around the classroom once more
"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? AN INVITATION TO SIT DOWN? GET INTO YOUR SEATS THE LOT OF YOU!," Bellowed the form tutor. Children scrambled for thier seats stupidly pushing each other out the way. They're terrified already! (Dalia noticed that no one made an effort to sit next to her leaving her with an empty desk to relax next to.)
Dalia closed her now abused and wrinkled book from her nervous fidgeting and tucked it into her desk. She straightened and gave a wide smile. Finally, a friendly face.
