A/N: Incase you're lost, since I gave my characters so many nicknames.
Aureus- Lioness, Lion, Kitty, and Aure.
Keir- Shark, Sharky, and Beta.
Adira- Wolf, Dire, Alpha, and 'Dira.
Nascha- Owl, Omega, Nasch', and Nash (Naw-sh)."Is Kitty okay?" Ava asked, sitting on Adira's bed, trying to braid Nascha's hair.
"Aureus will be fine," Nascha assured the little girl, before glancing at Keir without moving her head, "how do you think he's taking it?"
"How are YOU taking it?" Kier glared at her, "you watched your best friend turn into a giant dire wolf."
"Honestly, I don't care. I mean, it's really cool and all, but, if anything, it made her make more sense." Nascha leaned backwards towards Ava, after she accidentally started leaning forward. "Plus, she's not exactly my bestfriend."
"She's not?!" Ava-Lee practically yelled. "My big sis is the coolest person ever, how are you not best friends?!" She interrogated the owl.
Nascha laughed, "Yea', we are close, she's real cool, y'know. But, I wouldn't call us best friends'..."
Ava seemed to take in her words, tilting her head from side to side, as if weighing the options. With a slight shrugs of her shoulders, she went back to the hair art project.
...
Aureus lifted his head slowly, peering around the mostly empty room. It was a simple bedroom, had been in here before. Shades of grey, black, white, and dark purples and reds decorated the room. Red carpet, maroon bed, cream-ish colored floor, open window. He still froze when he locked eyes with stormy blue ones.
Adira stood tall in the doorway, not glaring, but carrying her obvious, and common, resting bitch face. "Going to faint again?" Aure shook his head violently, backing away. How long had she been there?
"Good, I'll go get Keir. If I seemed creepy, I apologize. I was told to keep watch." Aure was pretty she whispered under her breath about the plan being "idiotic". "You know, he's worried about you. Don't tell him I told you this, but, I think he's got it bad for you, Kitty. Tip of advice? He's clingy."
He watched as her face twisted a little bit, hinting of laughter. It disappeared as soon as it appeared, and she left the room.
After, maybe less than twenty seconds, came the pounding of feet. Which, everyone can assure you, scared the shit out of the poor lion.
"Kitty!" Yelled Ava, Elizabeth, and Storm as the my jumped up onto his bed. Whether lioness or not, Aure was not a social creature. Adira sighed, scooping up the, now laughing and gigging, children, and brought them out of the room.
Leaving a very tired Shark, with a very, oddly, calm Lioness.
"So, it's everyone that can... turn? Into those huge animals..." Aure fiddled with the, very heavy, blanket. The answer came with a simple nod. "So, when they wanted same-species to mate, it's so tiers literally didn't go extinct?" Another nod. "And, I could change into a lion?"
"Lioness, yeah. You wouldn't be a male lion, because it just wasn't how you were born. And, the extinct thing? Yeah, species are going extinct... Like, pandas, turtles, tigers, elephants, certain owls, and... Dire wolves."
"What're Adira's siblings tiers?" Aureus cocked his head.
"Tiger and tiger for the twins, deer, deer, grey wolf, grey wolf, and blue jay. As Keir said, they're just... dying off." Adira stood at the door, but it wasn't her who had said it. Nascha seemed pretty calm, yet angry about the issue.
"Wait, how'd you know their tiers?" Adira glared at Nascha, which resulted in the owl's confused gaze.
Nascha moved herself more towards Adira, as if trying to calm the Alpha wolf. "Calm, I don't know how I can tell, but, I've been able to do this since birth. 97% of the time, it's correct."
T
he Alpha glare was clear and present, which resulted in a scared shark climbing into the bed with the lion. Yet, the owl didn't give a hoot. Nascha stood there with the confidence of a mammoth.
An invisible conversation seemed to happen, as the, still frightened, couple crept closer to the wall of the bedroom.
A gas-like aura spread through the room, suffocating the males, yet, unrecognized by the ones arguing. An Alpha against an Omega. They suffered in differences, but held themselves the same.
A spark lit. Nascha broke, "I didn't tell you about it, no. And, I'm sorry, a'ight? I was worried you'd think I was lying, and yes, I can tell that something was off when I looked at you. Which must've been the fact that you can turn."
Kier slowly pulled a shaking, pale Aureus behind him. Expecting the wolf to explode in anger because of how much she despises secrets.
"We'll discuss this later, but no more secrets or I'll punch you so hard you'll be knocked into next week." Adira glared, the look meant everything, and the threat would be stupid from anyone else. Her? She probably could hit someone into next week.
Nascha laughed as if it was a joke, "yeah, sorry. But, I think that's it, 'Dira. Nothing else 've got is a secret."
Keir felt as though something changed with his cousin. That big bad Alpha was gone... She'd usually rip throats for someone talking back to her. Let alone laugh in her face. Yet, Adira sat there, glaring at the smaller female with her arms crossed over her chest. Her shoulders weren't even tense, which, in itself should make someone feel uneasy. Usually, she was only this relaxed after an actual fist fight.
Nascha was definitely the one changing her, and Keir was grateful to see Adira with a good friend. But, even himself hasn't gotten through to the tough, stuck-up, unapproachable Alpha Dire Wolf. Nascha stood opposite of her, her breathing heavy and loud, where Adira was a quiet as a mouse shifter. Crazy hand movements followed Nascha's every word, every now and then the Owl would just poke Adira to see if she was paying attention. Which, she oddly was.
"Keir?" Aureus, very lowly spoke up.
"Um, uh, yep? Wha'd ya' need?"
Aure looked over at the two, and said, "I haven't known any of you for long. Hell, it's only been, what, three days. Four? I need to go home. I don't know about Nasch' but I'm feeling... odd about all this. Like you guys still aren't telling me something." Aureus looked up at him, and Keir noticed his eye, very lightly twitching, and Keir smelt fear. "Keir, I'm sorry. But, you scare me. This all scares me."
Keir physically felt like something dipped in his stomach, most of it returned to normal, but some small part stayed in the dip. Leaving his stomach with a weird, heavy feeling.
"I... don't understand. I grew up knowing this shit. But, I can take you home as soon as possible. Just know, I don't ever want to scare you. And, if need-be, call me. Mmkay? Hell, you could even shout from your roof. Sharks don't have the best hearing, but I can assure one of the wolves will know your voice," Kier cracked a smile, before standing and leaving with Aureus in-tow.
