"Okay... I give up, what is this?" Énic asked.I watched my mate, slightly smiling at his forthright behavior. But I was curious too.
On the simple wooden table laid the center of everyone's attention. It was a long metallic strut basically, which consisted of various funnel-shaped pieces that have been put together. Dirt was attached to it, but on some of the sharp lines the oval funnels had, there were also traces of corrosive rust and green moss. On the smaller end something like a claw was enclosed to it, but I couldn't see it very well from my place. Yennis crossed his arms and frowned.
"Well, we dunno." He said with a clear accent of the simple hylian folks. "We found it nearby the excavation site, just between the trees. Eckard stumbled over it, otherwise we wouldn't have discovered it."
"Between the woods..."
Énric looked at him skeptically. "What is that at all? Do these 'ancient relics' want to be found lately or why are they just lying around here?"
Yennis raised his hands. "Don't ask me, I'm just a worker."
As you already mentioned a hundred times, I thought quietly.
Énric ran a hand through his hair, which he never tied together, resulting a good looking brown and slightly orange mane. After three years, I could read the expressions of his face easily and now he looked very annoyed, but with a deeper exhaustion underneath the irritability.
"Okay." He said. "Bring this to Agen and tell him to take a note about it."
"How should he name it?"
Énric turned at him again and made a impatient move with his right hand. "Whatever. 'Ancient relic that lies around and tries to make people stumble by existing?'"
The corpulent Yennis frowned again but said nothing, as he left to fetch help for the transport. I watched him disappear from the tent and then turned at Énric. "Is it just me or are you a bit edgy today, Énric Tameth?" I asked frankly.
He already has leaned over the second table in the tent, across from the entry, to study the various maps and papyruses. I watched his shoulders rise and lower as he deeply breathed. "Perhaps."
That was also a sufficient answer for me. So I walked over and rested my left wing over his back, which was almost enough to cover it. "I know when something is troubling you, love. No matter what." I said calmly. "Most time, the question rather is; if you tell me what it is."
He laughed, but it was more of an exhalation. "When did you start to know me this good, Ibitt?"
"I guess, it was when we settled in the village. But that you're a foolish idiot; that I knew right from the beginning." I chuckled.
Énric glanced at me with amusement. "Thank you very much 'feather-pillows.'"
I narrowed my eyes. "You really know how to ruin the mood, don't you?"
Now he was the one how chuckled. "Want do go for a walk?"
I nodded and followed him out of the tent. It was not a stupid thing to do: tents were not very useful to keep things inside of them: especially a private conversations.
The sun touched the far mountains Tabantha when I came out. Red, yellow and blue colors were dominating the clear sky, lightening up the white tents. I blinked and then noticed that the first stars were already visible. It was still warm from the day and now that I paid attention to the atmosphere around me, I heard the cicadas singing and the people talking; ending their work, straggling inside the little colony of tents and small wooden shelters. Dinner was about to be served soon; I could smell it.
