Chapter 6

Will

Will stopped pushing his cart abruptly, an banged the plates loudly, as he heard Nico easily flirt with Percy Jackson. Oh no, if they found me here, they'll know I'm ease-dropping on them. I'd better get out of here.

Will quickly ran into a room across and shut the door. He left a crack so he can peer out into the hallway.

Annabeth opened the door and said "looks like someone brought us food. I wonder who?"

"Hmmm," Nico said. "I guess we can eat. I thought Will was going-"

Nico's sentence was cut off as Annabeth clicked the door shut. Will quickly left Nico's hallway and went into another room to give himself time to think.

Percy is the one Nico likes? I mean he has black hair and green eyes, does Nico find that attractive? I only have blond hair and blue eyes. Is that why he does't like me? What is this feeling? Why am I jealous? Maybe I like Nico a little more then I thought. A sudden realization hit him, is Percy the one that Nico was screaming about last night? The person he hated, what happened?

Everyone knew about when Nico and his sister Bianca first appeared. The Hunters of Artemis also came back to the camp and a prophecy was given as well. It was a big deal, but Bianca died and Will was pretty sure Percy was there too.

I wondered what happened? If Nico blames Percy for Bianca's death, but also likes him. Hmmm, Percy was the first demigod Nico met, maybe that left a big impression on Nico. I mean he left when Percy got back, but also helped with the Titian War and the 7 Demigod Prophecy. I wonder-

"Will?" Will looked up to see a surprised Austin standing over him. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm okay, I just had to think about someone-something," he quickly added.

"Does this 'something' have to do with Nico di Angelo?"

"N-no."

"It's not about him?" Austin raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, well yes it is."

"What is it? Maybe I can help."

"I think I like Nico, more then friends. I like his sense of humor, his laugh, his sassiness, his sense of duty and how he makes me feel. But..."

"But what?"

Will put his head down and said "I think he likes someone else. I don't think he's interested in me at all, not even to be friends."

"Who?"

"Percy Jackson," Will looked at Austin sadly. "I'm nothing compared to him, I have blond hair and blue eyes. I'm not brave, I've never gone on an adventure before, I've never saved the world and I have no special powers."

"Will, you're the best healer we have at the Apollo cabin, you're the one who heals people coming back from adventures. You are important, not just to your family, but to everyone you've helped. Don't put yourself down and compare yourself to Percy Jackson. You are two different people who have different roles."

"But I really do like Nico and I don't know what to do."

"You'll never know how he feels until you talk to him."

He was about to tell me something earlier today before Percy and Annabeth interrupted us. Maybe he does want to be my friend. Or maybe, something more. Will thought to himself.

"Thanks Austin," Will said, as Austin helped him get to his feet.

"Go get him," Austin replied.

Will left the room feeling better, he went to Nico's room and walked in. He saw Annabeth and Percy sitting in the chairs, and Nico on the bed. He noticed Nico turned pinker when he walked in, but then blinked and he looked normal again. Maybe it's just my imagination. Will thought.

"Hey everyone, sorry I couldn't join you for lunch. I got caught up helping," Will said as he sat next to Nico in the bed. He noticed Nico didn't move away and smiled to himself.

"No problem, we had a fun time together, but I think it's time for us to leave. Right Annabeth?" Percy asked.

"Yeah, you guys need to talk, Nico has something he wants to talk to you about. And sorry again for interrupting you. See you later, bye!" Annabeth said cheerfully, as they walked out the door hand in hand.

"Bye," Will called, then turning to Nico, who looked a bit pink. "What was Annabeth mean? What do you need to talk to me about?"

"Well, before we were interrupted I was going to tell you something."

"I think it was something about you liking me?"

"Well," Nico looked nervous again. "Maybe, I do like you-"

"Really?" Will, interrupting excitement building. Jumping out of bed he said, "I like you too."

"But I'm not ready for a relationship yet, I just want a friendship. I'm sorry Will."

"Is it because of Percy Jackson? Is it because you still like him?"

"No it's not."

"Then why were you flirting with him?"

"What?" Nico narrowed his eyes, "Were you listening to our conversation Will?"

"Not on purpose, I was outside the door when I heard you guys. Then I had to go help."

"Well I don't like Percy Jackson like that, we're only friends and I don't need your help or concern." Nico snapped, standing up too and crossing his arms.

"Why won't you let me in and help you?" Will asked softy.

"I take care of myself, that's what I've always done," Nico's voice hardened.

"You let Percy help you and you came back to Camp Half-Blood twice for him," Will said, raising his voice.

"I did that for my friends and for Camp Half-Blood. Not just for Percy," Nico said, also raising his voice.

"Then what am I to you Nico?" Will shouted.

"I don't know," Nico shouted back. "I don't know," he said a little bit more quietly, while backing up into the wall. He slid down the wall, till he was sitting and put his head in his hands

"Oh Nico," Will said as he walked over to younger boy. And squatted down, so he could placed his hand on Nico shoulder while saying "I'm sorry for yelling at you. I promise-"

"I don't want any more promises or help from you or from anyone else. I hate you. Leave me alone," Nico shouted, and push Will.

Will fell on his butt and started to say "Nico, don't! Don't shadow-"

Nico disappeared into the shadows, leaving Will sitting on the ground, hand outstretched.
