Malcolm fell asleep easier than he had expected he would. However, his dreams didn't bother to leave him alone. He had what he described as a nightmare. He knew the human brain is a complex thing, and no one really understands it, that's why he never questioned why his brain would be scared of something it created. However, he didn't have much time to question it now. That's because he was engulfed in a dream.
The dream was set in the tipi, the same place where he fell asleep. The only difference was the darkness, and the shadow that fell across the canvas cover. He didn't notice it at first, but it was hard to miss as soon as it moved. Then, he noticed that the shadow had something strange. A tail, slim, and likely adorned with feathers. The face was slender, with a feathered crest as well, and when the shadow's mouth opened, it revealed a set of large, freshly sharp teeth. The body was small, built for running, but with a large chest, likely containing large lungs for short bursts of speed rather than distance. The silhouette was about seven feet in height, and at the tip of the hand, finger-like appendages with small claws. It looked like a raptor, especially because it seemed bipedal, and it had a similar toe-claw on each foot, though, not as large.
He watched the creature move on, the shadow running off into the forest. After a long wait, Malcolm realized something that terrified him more than the creature itself...
He wasn't asleep.
