Its the first day of my last year in High School. I can't believe the pain of High School is almost done. But still it's not over yet. I have been in ST. Angel's High school for four years now.
"How did i make it this far?" I sigh.
I sit there in the bathroom with bathtub filled to the rim. The bubbles just peeping over the edge of the bath tub. The bubble caressing my skin with its soft touch. The expectation on how my first day in being Matric is flooding my brain. I try to imagine on how the day will be like today. OK no more wondering, i am too excited. I can't wait to see my friends since i am very limited with communication. Since my phone battery died and my parents refused to buy me a new one.
They said the typical thing every parent says, "It's an important year for you and you need no distractions this year".
"Sitting up in the bath tub with the bubbles hugging more of my body, all around i was covered with bubbles. It almost looked i was already wearing clothes made out of bubbles," i giggled to myself.
Reaching out for the blue towel next to the brown one on the right side of the rail. Just when i began drying myself i heard.
"Katrina get out the bath tub now, how c'mon be fair now others need to get in there," shouted my Dad.
"Just brushing my teeth," i say back lying.
I am one of those people who loses track of time in a bath tub and spends hours in it. I will even stay in it when my fingers and toes have became pruney. Why does my dad have to constantly remind me to get out the bath. I am turning 18 in July i am sure he could at least attempt to treat me like an adult. But no, they have to be irritating and treat me like a 9 year old. They treat me the same way they treat my younger brother and the way it annoys me.
"Katrina," he shouted again.
"Al - cough, almost done," i chocked out.
I guess i let too much of the toothpaste foam at my mouth. I walk into the kitchen and see my dad preparing my lunch.
"What you want for lunch?" he says to me.
"Can i have two slices of bread with Nutella, and good morning biscuits," i say in a dwell.
"Only two slices?" he says raising his black eye brow at me. He has black hair, with a black mustache and a line in between his chin [i call them bum chin's]. His eyes are so dark i can't tell the difference between his iris and pupil.
When my mother walked out wearing her pink pj's in a pink gown and says in horror, "Katrina why are you still in a towel go get dressed, we are already late for your first day of school and you walking around in a dwell."
The school uniform is average I would say. Its a long sleeve shirt, dark blue blazer [not navy blue], red tie, black skirt and black shoes. Am i forgetting something? I wonder to myself. When it hits me, my stockings [which are black] The whole family of five rushes into the grey VW Touareg, i hope dropped off first to school. The drive is silent, until half way my parents get into a conversation about work. I don't understand a thing they saying but i am saved when i see the school gate. We drop of my older brother to Varsity College.
"Bye," he mutters out and leaves with out even a hint of emotion.
"Bye Bryson," shouts Tory who is sitting next to me.
He turns around and waves at Tory and walks off on to the campus.
"Next is Tory", my mom says to my dad.
The drive to Tory's school was short and quick. But now its my turn after them.
"Bye mommy, bye daddy, bye katie", Bryson shouts while he runs to his friends playing with marbles on the floor.
"Bye", we all shout back at the same time.
Now its my turn to be dropped off. We finally arrive at the gate of my school. I say bye to my parents and wait outside the hall gate waiting for it to be opened. It's 7:00 and its freezing. Its so cold i could actually see my breath and the tip of my nose is cold. I noticed when it is cold, the tip of my nose gets cold, so i instinctively put my hand on the tip of my nose in order to warm it up. The Hall has not been opened yet and i waiting for the security guard to open the doors for the Hall. I am to cold to do anything but wait for him to get the keys to switch the alarm off. He eventually opens the Hall, i head straight to a chair and sit down. The Hall is dusty making me sneeze.
"I hate being allergic to dust," i mutter to myself.
I eventually get bored of complaining and take out a book, i continue reading the girl on the train. I find the character i was last on and when i just read three lines of Anna's chapter i hear.
"Katie!"
I stop on the line i am and turn my head to see where the voice is coming from to see who called me.
"Katie!" she shouts out again with joy.
Its Audrina my best female friend in school. I couldn't help but notice the physical differences her body is showing. Her smile is huge as she skips towards me with her Indian music blasting in her ears. Her arms swaying to her sides. Her earphones moving with the movement of her body. I feel so relieved that its her so i don't have to sit in the hall by my lone self any longer.
