They came without warning. Malignant Monsters swerving and spinning through the air, bittersweet blood gently dripping and clumping around the bodies of the townspeople. I had woke with a start, Ban dragging my arm with such fury that I doubted he would notice if it was swiped clean off.
The sun highlighted the large boils growing from the overlayers, inhumane growls and spluttering gurgles filled the air. Every one of my senses heightened, The other sins undoubtedly attempting to establish some sort of border between the civilians and the hideous. I didn't worry for Ban or the Sins, I worried for the chance of the kingdom turning to dust between my bare hands.
Hawk's Mom took me away, shaking off the frantic screams of protest even though there was nothing I could do to help. Dragging away into the murky distance, the last clouded view I saw was the entire boundary of knights dropping softly to the ground...
