Ox's POV
A/N: This Volume takes place around the same time as Volume 4 of RWBY. -Spartan
I was running through the arena. All around me the sounds of men and women screaming echoed off the coliseum's walls, drowned out briefly by sporadic gunfire. I could see the shadows on the walls. Men, women, and children running. Falling. Not getting back up.
I ran towards the shapes with the guns. White Fang. Dozens of them. I roared with fury and charged into the group, hammer in my right hand, knife in my left, slashing and smashing every man in my way. Three went down. Then five. Then ten. Then a dozen.
But for every man I killed or wounded, three more took his place. Eventually, I lost my knife. Then my hammer. My aura was gone. I felt something hit me hard in the back and dropped to my knees. Goons grabbed my arms, grabbed my horns and pulled my head up.
I saw him walk towards me, grinning. Adam Taurus. He bent down and looked in my eyes. "You aren't strong enough to stop me."
He clicked his tongue and one of the goons brought out Velvet. Another three followed with my team. All were bound. I tried to get up but the thugs holding my arms were strong and I couldn't get free.
"Let them go!" I roared.
He smiled at me, drew his sword, and in one quick motion, slit Velvets throat.
"Nooooooooooo!" I struggled against my captures as Velvet collapsed, blood shooting like a geyser.
He smiled again and cut Carli's throat. Then Lapis's. Then Lazuli's. Their holders released their bodies and they fell next to Velvet. Adam kneeled down again.
"You can't stop me. You will never be able to stop me."
One of his goons handed him my knife, which he accepted.
"Now. I'm going to make sure that the last thing you will ever see is your failure." He said as he brought the knife towards my right eye.
I screamed and roared and thrashed until the pain grew so great that it was all I knew.

I woke up with a start, breathing heavily. Velvet, who I must have woken up, held my hand in hers.
"Ox. Ox, can you hear me? Ox?" she said, mild panic in her voice.
I tried to slow my breathing as much as I could. "Yeah. Yeah love, I'm good." I said, without much conviction.
The door to our room banged open and Team CFVY barged in, Coco with her gun drawn, Yatsu unarmed, and Fox who was holding a wok.
"We heard a scream. You guys okay?" Coco asked.
"Yeah. I'm good...Fox why do you have a wok?" I asked.
"What? Oh, damnit, I was hoping it was a frying pan. I was getting some water when I heard you."
I sighed. "Sorry about that guys."
"Nightmare?" Coco asked.
I nodded, not particularly trusting my voice to speak. Coco hit the switch on her, turning it back into her purse.
"Same one?" Fox asked.
"Yeah. Worse this time. Usually it fades out when...when he brings you and the others out." I said, looking at Velvet. "This time, he killed you. And Carli, and the twins. I watched you bleed out." I finished before breaking down.
Coco and the others left, and Velvet held me while I sobbed.
"It's okay love. I promise it'll be okay." Velvet said soothingly.
Lazuli's POV
I woke up in the middle of the night for the fifth time this week. I got out of bed, changed out of my over sized sleep shirt into a sports bra and shorts before making my down to the loft's gym.
The loft, which was a gorgeous four-bedroom, three-bathroom loft with a full kitchen and sitting room, was where my sister and I were staying while we searched for Carli. We turned one of the bedrooms into a planning room and the other one into a small gym with free weights, a treadmill and a heavy bag.
I strapped on my gloves and laid into the heavy bag, practicing several combinations that Ox had shown me. I pictured that the bag was Codiak Peridot and laid into him with every ounce of wrath I had until my hands felt like nubs of pain. Then I shifted my mind to picture Cinna instead of Codiak and a whole new wave of rage flooded me with strength. I pounded into the bag until something bounced off my head.
I spun around to see Lapis leaning in the doorway. I looked at the ground to see an empty water bottle laying by my feet. I looked back at her.
"What?""This is the fifth time this week sis. And its just been getting worse. You need to slow down and take a break before you hurt yourself."
I was about to snap at her before she raised her hand. "Before you shoot me, think a minute. One, I can make force fields so it wouldn't do much. Two, you know as well as I do that unless you get some rest and take of yourself, you won't be able to find Carli."
I wanted to blast her. But, as much as I hated to admit it, she made two very solid points. I sighed and nodded. As I walked past her to leave, she put a hand on my shoulder. "Hey. We'll find her. You know we will."
I nodded but rushed past her so she wouldn't see my tears.
