"—I can't believe she really said that!" You gasped, as a nervous giggle escaped from your glossy lips. "That little girl is really you reincarnated, I'm trying to tell you." The baritone voice convinced, before you watched the way the male's rough hand gripped the glass before throwing back the liquid.

"I guess she does take after her umama, huh?" You processed, with a smirk toying at the corners of your lips. "Well, Mandla is a spitting image of you. It's like I didn't even contribute anything." You laughed, before pausing as you saw M'Baku wholeheartedly chuckle at your words from across the outdoor table.

Watching the tangerine sunrays cascade over his mocha complexion making his dark auburn tinted hair brighten from the sun you observed the way his eyes squinted as wrinkles appeared on the surface of his skin. Along with the joy in his eyes you noticed his high cheekbones as he smiled through his boisterous laughter making a smirk reappear on your lips as you thoroughly enjoyed seeing M'Baku genuinely happy.

Cutting up your grilled chicken as his amusement began to settle you said, "You seem happy M'Baku and I like it, so whatever or whoever has you grinning like that keep it going." while flicking your lashes up to peek at him before sliding the fork in between your teeth as you slowly chewed on the meat.

Watching him timidly slid his tongue over his bottom lip as he nervously shifted in his chair you knew that you've touched a nerve. "Ah, so there is something or perhaps someone." You teased, making a shy M'Baku take an abrupt bite of his garden salad.

Catching the hint you left the conversation alone before digging into your own plate leaving a serene silence lingering between you two. While taking a sip of your sweet tea you heard the Great Gorilla disturb the tranquility as he mumbled, "—enough about my love life. Is there any progress with T'Challa after our little conversation, eh?" making you abruptly choke on the southern drink as it slid down your throat.

"Um, there is still no progress." You grumbled, in embarrassment and sadness making a frown distort your ex-husband's expression. "—but you don't need to be disturbed by any of this, honestly." You admit.

"You did so much more than I could ever ask of you especially as an ex-husband, so thank you." You said, as you reached your hand over the table grasping his palm letting him know that your words were sincere.

After seeing the drastic change in your demeanor from your love quarrel with the King while you were dropping the children off, M'Baku pulled you aside to vent and ever since that day he has been willing to lift your spirits. With remaining guilt from his infidelities M'Baku felt like he needed to provide the emotional support he lacked during the marriage by checking up on you every other day for the past two weeks.

From constantly checking up on you to scheduling lunch dates with the kids and offering his help with talking to T'Challa. It never crossed your mind that you would be so candid to discuss your relationship woes with M'Baku instead of your girlfriends which made you look at him profoundly. Not just because M'Baku was a horrible husband trying to advise you but for the fact that you could tell that he was trying to correct his errors by providing you support now.
