As I finally get my breathing under control Cerulean's tablet starts to beep. She checks it. A server-com comes in.
I guess Entitled have better server tech than most people in the Verse. The server doing the communications currently is in full and realistic color - except for the slight rippling effect holo-solids have.
The man standing before us takes me by surprise. I assume he's some other race of human from another part of the Verse. His skin is a very deep green color. While his body is more or less normal looking his hands are tipped with claw like yellowish nails and his face is angular with an impossibly long and pointed nose with matching ears, both of which stretch out very far from his head. His ears are adorned with many gold earrings. His hair is a bright flaming orange and in a classy looking cut, distinguished scruff at his jawline. Despite the extreme differences in facial structure he still manages to be quite handsome. He has a bored and haggard look to him.
"Pardon me, my lady, but I'm here to report that Lord Zander is entering the galaxy now and will be here shortly."
"Excellent!" Cerulean says with an excited gravitas that sharply contrasts the man's. Cerulean motions to the man. "Eris, this is Flynn, my Coadjutor! Coadjutors are the right hand assistants to Entitled, by the way. I tell you, I couldn't function a day without him! So many sticky situations he's gotten me out of!" she laughs.
"It was my greatest pleasure," Flynn says with a vague smile that ironically seems to cause great displeasure to him.
"I'm Eris - "
"We've met before," Flynn cuts in. "You were unconscious of course, but my lady has chewed my ears off quite a bit about you - or what she knows anyway."
"Oh, yes, I do tend to ramble!" Cerulean says chipperly. Everything she says is so energetic and giddy. It must be exhausting to keep up.
Flynn sneers at her in the fakest politeness I have ever seen. He looks as though he'd like to reach out and strangle her were he physically with us.
As I look at him I suddenly snap my fingers. "You're a Goblin, aren't you?" I ask.
Flynn stares at me a second before smiling fakely with fire in his eyes. Were this any other situation I get the sense he'd wring my neck.
"Well, my lady, my race is a very noble and ancient one. Thank you so much for asking and for in no way being horribly racially insensitive!" the look of pure hatred only intensifies.
Cerulean's face goes dark and stern. She makes a quick 'cut it' motion across her neck.
Flynn gives her a little glare. "Is there anything else I can do for you, my lady?" he asks, ready to be done with this conversation.
"Yes, tell Zander my guest has awakened and though she's a little shaken up she's otherwise in good shape. Also, I want a grand feast prepared as quickly as possible. I want to dine well as Eris, Zander and myself talk this whole kerfuffle through!" Cerulean takes my hand. "And of course, we'll be bringing up your exciting new life and place in the Verse as well as all the opportunities that have opened up for you!"
"Sounds delightful," Flynn says, dryly."
My eyes light up as a realization hits me. "Cerulean?" I say, "My protector, Caine, was he brought here too? I don't know and wasn't told."
"Protector?" Cerulean says. "No, of course not, you were the primary target." she waves it off. "I wouldn't worry too much, I'm sure he'll be collected soon enough."
"Still, he saved my life, I think he deserves a little credit, you know?"
Cerulean looks at me as though I said something rude.
