“Maybe you should stop talking ma’am.” Ades looked the old woman in the eyes showing no emotion. I took a step back as I saw his muscle’s tighten up. Eve grabbed Ades arm trying to push him away as I made myself ready to turn on my heels and run away. The woman looked like she was ready to scream for some cops and I felt my heart drop the moment that Ades raised his hand and Eve screamed. The woman didn’t stop apologizing one moment. So he didn’t hit, but he held his hand there in mid air only five inches away from the woman’s face. His face froze as the woman turned around and walked away looking terrified. I felt tears streaming down my face as Ades threw cusses towards the woman who was now walking away crying loudly. The moment Eve turned Ades around to look at me I spun around on my heels and ran away.

“Belle I’m so sorry but you looked so hurt.” More tears were streaming down my face as the world flashed around me blurry.

“Are you freaking kidding me the woman pushed me over I fell to the floor, I was not hurt I laughed and the woman apologized.” I stopped to turn around and look at him.

“The moment I got hurt was when you freaked out on that woman, that was probably the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen. You know I liked the old you, the shy one, the boy that would laugh about his own laugh and never stop, the boy that did everything to make other people happy I don’t like this one. Just come back and apologize when you mean it.” I snapped for some air and looked at the hurt in Ades eyes, he pinched his eyes and before I knew it he walked away from me and Eve.

“You okay?” Eve held me in her arms and hugged me tight. It didn’t help though, she was not what I needed.

“Do you want to bring me home?” I said pushing her off of me and wiping away my tears. She nodded slowly looking concerned. But she held whatever she wanted to say to herself.

We were already close to the parking lot when it all happened but still the walk to the car felt like forever. Eve looked at me a lot of times just to make sure I was okay. She was having a hard time looking at me still silently sobbing. We always have that, when one was crying the other one would also feel really hurt. I felt bad for crying with her around but I couldn’t stop the little sobs that were coming out. I let out a sigh of relief when we reached the car and I got in fast. Eve looked at me one more time before turning on the engine. I held in my breath to stop the sobbing.

“Sorry. I just need some space for myself, don’t worry. The dinner tonight is still on.” I saw a flash of relief in her expression but it was soon covered up by concern again. I felt a sting in my heart seeing her like this but I couldn’t help it. After five minutes of being silent she nodded and turned the music up loud, covering up the awkward silence in the car. The ride home took ten minutes and I was lost in my thoughts as Eve pulled the car to a stop in front of the big gate that’s protecting my house from trespassers.

“Look don’t be sad, it’s just a down side of this day but that’s not going to stop me from having a great time the coming weeks.” I shifted around in the passenger’s seat to face Eve with my entire body.

She let out a little laugh but her knuckles turned white when she pinched the steering wheel out of anger.

“It’s okay Belle, I believe you. I just knew how much you liked him and I didn’t expect this from him. I guess I’m just disappointed in Ades you know.” She stopped looking ahead of her and faced me to.

“I know, me to. But it’s going to be okay, we have each other and apparently that’s all we really need.” She smiled at me briefly before sighing with relief. Without waiting for an answer I opened the door and got out.

“See you tonight babe?” I said bending over into the car looking at the struggling Eve. She nodded and I slammed the door shut. Walking into the big gate I looked back one more time to see Eve pulling up at her driveway.
