Raven looked at the girl. He didn’t know her name but he felt he needed to help her out. He kept close to her, trying to keep her warm. Her breathing slowed down and became even.

Raven’s ears perked up as he heard something coming closer to them both. He stood up, but didn’t leave the girls side. He didn’t want her to be too cold if he left. He lifted his nose up and sniffed the air. Mother.

He stayed where he was and waited for her to come closer to him. She slowly walked toward him growling at the girl.

His tail went up and he growled back at her, Back off, Mother.

Her tail went between her legs and she bowed her head, She is human. She need die.

You do not tell me what to do. I am leader, he growled, taking an intimidating step toward her showing his dominance over her.

She lowered her head more but continued to glare at him, You need to think of the pack. Se dangerous.

He looked at the girl then back at his mother. He bared his fangs and stood up taller, like a true leader would to a disobedient follower, Come closer to her, touch her, or harm her in anyway and I will kill you.

You talk like that to your own mother? I took you in when no one else would. If it weren’t for me you’d be dead! I raised you! She bared her fangs at him and started to advance.

Raven growled and stood his ground, refusing to back down to an insubordinate, You obey me! Not the other way around!

You will get us all killed!

His mother went to attack him, when suddenly a black blur struck her side and pinned her down. Raven looked and saw it was his best friend and second in command, River. River was a black wolf with green eyes. He was almost as built as Raven but was a few inches shorter.

River bared his fangs at Raven’s mother, his jaws so close to her throat that if she tried anything he could tear it out quicker than she could push him off.

Raven sat down and nodded his head toward his best friend, Back down, River.

River pulled away from the female wolf and looked at his leader, Yes, sir.

Do not call me sir, River, we have known each other since we were pups. You have every right to call me Raven.

River nodded toward the white wolf, Sorry, Raven, sometimes I forget how long it has been since we met each other.

Raven laughed and looked down at his mother who was getting up slowly, You okay, Mother?

She glared at him, The moment you start to associate with humans, is the moment you no longer are my son.

Raven looked at his mother hurt, Even still, you are part of the pack. You must not defy me. The moment you do is the moment I kill you.
You are no longer my son,
She growled at him before turning her back and taking off leaving the two male wolves together.

River looked at Raven and nodded before transforming from wolf form to human form. Raven looked at the girl before turning into a human as well. Even in human form he was still taller than his best friend.

River had black hair and green eyes, his sink was a deep tan and was well built. His muscles were well defined and would glide smoothly under his skin whenever he would move. He had a smile that spoke of trouble and every human girl that has ever saw him compared him to that of a demon. Of course if they knew of River’s true nature and how he acted whenever he was alone with Raven they would call him a demon.

Raven on the other hand had hair as white as snow, and his skin was extremely pale. His eyes were still piercing against all the white. He was a few inches taller than River and his muscles were well defined as well. He had met other human girls as well, and they always told him he looked like an angel. They couldn’t be further from the truth. Raven was just as troublesome as River. Of course most the time it was River getting him into trouble and Raven had to get them both out of it, but he liked the danger that it brought with it.

Raven ran his fingers through his hair and turned to look at the sleeping girl. River watched his best friend and smiled, “You care about her don’t you?”

Raven scoffed at his best friend, “Of course not. She’s human, I’m a wolf. It would never work.”

River laughed, “Raven, I have never seen you look at someone like you would give your life for them. You even told your own mother that you would kill her if she harmed this girl. What is it about her that gets to you?”

He looked at the sky and sighed, “I don’t know. Maybe the fact that she looks so innocent. Compared to all the other girls that we’ve met before, I’ve never seen a girl that looks like her. Most girls don’t look like they’ve just had the worst life ever. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and I like that about her.”

River shook his head, “You know what humans call this feeling you have, Raven?”

Raven turned and bared his teeth at his best friend, “Don’t you dare say it, River. I’ll have you shunned by the pack.”

River smiled a crooked smile at his friend, “Don’t have to be so harsh about it, Raven. Besides you know everything you say to me has no hold on me while we’re human.”

Raven sighed and looked down at the sleeping girl, “I know, River. Now return to the pack. We don’t want her waking up and seeing us.”

River nodded, he didn’t like the way this girl was changing his best friend. Of course there was nothing he was able to do about it. He was just as captivated by the girl as Raven was. He looked at the girl and then his best friend, “One day, Raven, you’ll figure it all out.”

Raven looked at his friend and smiled before nodding, “Yeah, I know, River.”

While the two boys were talking they didn’t notice the girl’s eyes opening and seeing them standing there. All they heard was the gasp and then running feet.

Raven turned to see her running off, tripping over her feet. He cursed under his breath before running after her, slightly faster than her as he was use to running in these woods on two legs. River was on his flanks and soon was running past him and pounced on the girl, tumbling to the ground on top of her. Raven came to a dead stop as he watched the girl try and fight his friend off and screaming.

River grabbed a hold of the girl’s arms and pinned them down over her head before whispering in his hypnotic voice, “Calm down.”
